was fined $250. plus costs of $3.00
or 25 days in jail. He was given 60
days in which to pay the fine,

Boom's camp
in operation
Don "Boom" Gravett, former
rec director in Exeter and
Hanover, announced this week
he would still be conducting a
summer camp this year.
He started the camp 16 years
ago while working in Exeter and
many local youngsters continued
to attend the week long session
after he moved to Hanover.
This year's camp is being spon-
sored by Pike Lake Lodge, which
is located on Pike Lake between
Harriston and Mt. Forest,
Registration is open to boys
and girls, ages eight to 15 and it
will be held from Saturday, July
9 to Saturday, July 16.
Forms for registration may be
secured locally from Bob
Fletcher.
In talking with the T-A this
week, Gravett said that the
facilities at Pike Lake will
enable the camp to offer an even
greater assortment of activities
for youngsters. •
There will be water skiing,
boating, tennis, golf, horse shoes
and shuffleboard, as well as the
usual hikes, crafts, floor hockey,
softball, soccer, music and
games.
Cost of the registration is $60.
Mary Gravett will again be
camp mother, a position she has
held for all of Boom's 16 camps.
arose out of an incident in Cen-
tralia when OPP Constable Jim
Rogers saw a vehicle being
driven in an erratic manner.
Kellett and another witness
said that he was not driving at the
time of the erratic driving, but
had switched places with the
driver while the vehicle was in
progress. Kellett explained he did
this out of an act of friendship as
the original driver was under a
licence suspension. "
Acting Crown Attorney Bill
Kierdorf said he felt the act of
changing drivers while the
vehicle was in motion was in
itself a case of careless driving.
Mr. Wedlake agreed with that
argument, although he said he
believed Kellett's testimony that
he was not driving in the first
instance.
Sanders. Constable George
Robertson set damages at $700.
A vehicle owned by Mattkeas
Athanasios, Exeter was damag-
ed to the extent of $300 when it
was struck by an unknown vehi-
cle while parked behind 429 Main
Street. Constable Robertson is
investigating.
.Thursday, Alvin Willert
reported to police that several
chairs and a coffee urn had been
taken from a storage shed at the
construction site of the new Ex-
eter arena. Constable Sadler is
investigating.
Exeter police chief Ted Day
reports that a great number of
bicyclists in the town have not
yet purchased their 1977 licence
plates.
Day says any one found riding
a bike after the deadline of July 1
will be charged under the town
bylaw.
At the same time the chief said
that during the past week two
persons have been charged with
riding a bicycle on the sidewalk
of Main Street.
Officers have been advised to
continue these charges of illegal
riding. In the case of juveniles
their bicycles will be confiscated
for seven days.
Speed bike
is damaged
Monday, Exeter police officers
recovered a 10 speed bicycle at
the rear of South Huron District
High 'School.
The bike valued at $130 was
found with the front wheel,
pedals and seat removed.
Constable Brad Sadler is in
charge of this mischief in-
vestigation.
zone. He said he had just pur-
chased the car and was not aware
that the speedometer was
inaccurate. The Crown suggested
the car dealer involved should
reimburse the accused.
