enjoyed, all the mothers par-
ticipated as well.

Holidays to all the Youth Groups.
Mrs. Robert Hardie was the
hostess for Unit (1) on Wed-
nesday afternoon with- Miss
'Mabel McNaughton presiding
and opening the meeting with a
hymn, followed by the scripture
from Lamentations.
Lesson Thoughts were entitled
'A Vacation for God", Plans were
discussed concerning the
program for the General Meeting
June14, as unit one is responsible
for this meeting, a speaker has
been arranged for, and will be
Beryl Wilsher from the Family
Centre of London Mission Ser-
vices.
It was decided that each
member be requested to bring
something that could be used in
this service, to the meeting, such
as household articles or canned
goods.
Mrs. Earle Middleton and Mrs.
Elmer Summers were in charge
of the program, the theme was
Modern Missions, Mrs. Middleton
took the first part, which was
taken "from a paper that
recounted an interview with two
Missionaries, the Burtts, a
husband and wife team, who had
returned to the Philippines from
choice, to continue their work
there.
Mrs. Middleton also told the
members a little about their
newly adopted 10 year old
Philippino son Ronald, and also
read a letter she had received
from Ronald's father which had
been translated to English,
Mrs. Summers presented a
paper on the Nature of Missions,
this compared Missionary Ser-
vice of today with what is was in
the past, and told how, instead of
just preaching the Gospel,
missionaries now instruct the
undeveloped countries how to
grow their food to get more
nourishment and how to cure
their diseases as well as to be
good Christians.
Mrs. Robert Hardie read a
poem "If a father had but one
wish" and Mrs. Gordon
McRobert gave a Seasonal
reading entitled "June". Mrs.
Glen Jameson and Mrs. Elmer
Summers assisted the hostess to
serve lunch.
Unit (4) met at the home of
Mrs. Norman Riddell Wednesday
evening. Mrs. Nelson Tate
presided and read the Scripture,
and Lesson Thoughts which was
entitled "A Vacation for God".
There was a number of items of
business discussed, and a quilt
that the members had finished
was displayed. Mrs. James Kerr
was in charge of the program and
presented a paper on Modern
Missions, this outlined that there
was more than preaching the
Gospel of Jesus Christ, such as
showing people how to care for
their health and how to feed
themselves so that the food would
be more nourishing, this inspired
a good discussion.
Mrs. Harvey Kennedy read a
well known hymn to close the
program. Mrs, Edith Jermyn, a
former member of the Unit and
now residing in London was a
visitor.
Mrs. Wm. Lambert assisted the
hostess to serve lunch.

nesday evening June 1 with Mrs.
Chas. McRobert presiding and
opening the meeting with a poem
"May these be your blessings"

CHURCH NEWS
At the United Church Rev.
Elwood Morden conducted the
Sunday morning service, and
took the theme for his sermon
from Paul's Epistle to the
Ephesians and entitled it "The
gift of Time".
Time is God's sacred gift to us,
our best confessions are not in
our Creeds but in our date books,
and how to manage time is
everyone's problem, said Rev.
Morden.
Oliver Wendell Holmes said In
the Garden of our hearts is a
place called Reverance, and the
plants need to be watered once a
week with Faith and Love. Work
that is done grudgingly is ser-
vitude, work that is done
willingly is service,. so let us
make the most of our time said
the minister.
There was no service at St.
Thomas Anglican Church Sun-
day, so that the congregation
could join with Kirkton who were
celebrating their Anniversary.
