An advertisement recently
appeared in the National En-
quirer purporting to reveal a
NEW ALCOHOL CURE. This new
programme has apparently
been started by a medical doc-
tor, and the ad. states that, "It
eliminates the drinker's ITO
completely within 7 days, with
no pills, confinement or discom-
fort." They say it even works for
drinkers who deny being
alcoholics, and claim endorse-
ment by clergymen and psy-
chologists. The ad. goes on to
say that, "This is all learned in
the privacy of the drinker's own
home."
Free information is promised
to all who write to a California
address. With "tongue in cheek"
we have done so, to see if this
firm is able to pass the false
advertising act, and will publish
our findings in a later column.

It appears that UNITREX
have ceased operations at
their Toronto location, and
what makes this closure such
a mystery is because one day
last April, the premises were
just suddenly closed without
any announcement from any
member of the firm.
No bankruptcy has as yet
been filed, so officials from
the Ministry of Consumer and
Commercial Relations, are
trying to locate UNITREX of-
ficers because of the deluge
of customer complaints.
At the moment it would
appear that your watch is
one of thousands sitting
somewhere in a locked Don
Mills warehouse.
If you can let us know
where your watch was
purchased, perhaps we can
find out if that particular firm
will honour the warranty or
not. Apparently some Unitrex
retailers are now doing this.
