Village to get T
windfall from:
extra snowfall:
Lucan council received some
good news Monday night from the
office of Ontario Minister of
Transportation and Com-
munications William Snow.
According to the provincial
communiqne the village is now
eligible to receive a subsidy
under the special winter main-
tenance allocation to cover extra
expenditures incurred during the,
heavy snowfalls of the past
winter.
Clerk Ed Melanson said ac-
cording to new guidelines the
subsidy available to Lucan would
be $465.79. The subsidy is based
on a percentage of the difference
between the 1977 snow removal
costs and the highest year bet-
ween 1973 and 1976.
At the same time approval was
received from the provincial
highways branch for a sup-
plementary subsidy in the
amount of $12,000, This will assist
in installation of a culvert on
Lewis street.
The total subsidies now
available to the village for 1977
for road purposes are $34,100 for
construction and $7,500 for
maintenance.
