There was a very attentive audience, including parents, grandparents and family friends; in attendance. Mr. & Mrs. Earl Baker, of St. Church News Thankoffering was observed, Sunday, at the United Church, with the United Church Women in charge of the service. Special speaker was Miss Ann Reuber, of Stratford who gave an excellent talk on "What is the church's mission?" and told a little of the Christian Church in Japan. Two special musical numbers were a trio of Mrs. Don Weigand, Mrs. Ralph McKinnon and Mrs. Morley Desjardine, singing "The Kind Shepherd." Mrs. McKinnon sang a solo entitled "Trees," Next Sunday will be a special Sunday School service featuring the "Aletheia Gospel Singers," from Exeter. About 30 fathers, sons, and sons-in-law , attended the father and son banquet at Church of God, Friday evening, for a ham supper. The meal was sponsored by the Ladies' group of the church. A welcome poem to the men and sons, was read and composed by Mrs. Grace Lawrance. Following the banquet, Paul Turnbull, showed slides with commentary, on Guatemala. The next step is the creation of a Planning Board which must consist of four non-members of council, two council members and the Reeve as an ex-officio member of the board, This board will investigate and survey the physical, social and economic conditions in relation to the development of the planning area and may perform such other duties of a planning nature as may be referred to it by council, The estimated cost of carrying out the planning program in Grand Bend over the next five years will be approximately $12,500.
