Lodge rooms Friday June 10th at
7 p.m. for Monkton Lodge where
Pride of Huron will do the open-
ing of lodge. A bus will leave the

June 23 at 3 p.m. for Toronto
when members will attend the

After lodge contests were en-
joyed and a lunch was served of
sandwiches, birthday cake and
ice cream.
The bus left the church at 7;30
a.m. with 41 ladies aboard.
Although rain followed all the
way, it did not dampen the
spirits and a sing song shortened
the trip.
Upon arrival at our host
church, Grace United, members
were met by a very friendly lady
who acted as guide, First she
took us to St. Andrews
Presbyterian church which was
built in 1831 and still maintains
its box pews and unique high
pulpit. The original building was
burned in the war of 1812.
The present minister told us
much of the history of the church
and answered questions for us.
Next visited was St. Marks
Anglican church with it's
beautiful stained glass windows.
It was also burned during the
war of 1812 but the original stone
walls remained and were used
for the present structure,
Then a visit to St. Vincent de
Paul Catholic church founded in
1826 and completely renovated in
1964. The original frame church
was enlarged by a 12 sided
polygon addition but most of the
old structure was preserved in
its original form.
The bus returned to Grace
United Church where the ladies
were welcomed to a delicious
buffet luncheon. A short
devotional was conducted by
Flora Doerr and Alice McLean
with the theme of Friendship.
After an hour of browsing
through the tourist boutiques on
Main St. the tour took in some of
the large beautiful old homes
with their park-like grounds. On
the way home members stopped
for a steak dinner at Kitchener
and arrived home about 9:30 p.m.
