the group toured the steel plant in
the morning, with guided tour

parts, assembly lines and finally
finished products of machinery.
Twenty five hundred men are
employed in this huge industry.
After lunch the group made a
stop at Dundurn Castle, shopped
in the 19th century restored
village of "Hess", and then a tour
of the famous Botanical Rock
gardens at Hamilton.
This bus trip was arranged and
sponsored by the Men's Club of
Church of God, Grand Bend, with
48 passengers enjoying the day.

the girls father, Fred Weiburg, a
patient in South Huron Hospital,
Exeter.

The June meeting of the U.C.W.
was held Monday evening with 26
ladies present. Mrs. Rick Parker
was in charge of the program of
which the Theme was "Use of
Our Time" Mrs. Parker gave
the Call to Worship on time. The
ladies divided into 3 discussion
groups on "How We Use Our
Time?" Mrs. Parker pointed out
what women did in 1877 and what
conveniences we have now.
Doris Elford received the of-
fering and Mrs. Parker gave the
Offertory prayer. Doris Elford
read the Scripture Lesson. Mrs.
Bev' Alexander gave a reading
and a poem "No Time For God".
The Canada Manpower Centre
for Students has announced Hire-
A-Student Week will be held June
12 to 18 in Huron County.
Hire-A-Student Week is
organized each year to bring to
the attention of the local business
community and the homeowners
of Huron County that hiring a
student can provide a learning,
experience and basic job skills
for a local student.
The Mayors of Goderich,
Clinton, Seaforth, and Exeter
have been contacted and all have
Mrs, Parker closed the meeting
with prayer.
Mrs. G. Stewart opened the
business with a poem "You Tell
On Yourself". Minutes, roll call,
cards of thanks, treasurers
report and the manse committee
report. Mrs. Ken Duncan
reported that about $800. was
cleared at the pork barbecue.
An invitation was read to join
with the Cromarty ladies in July.
Mrs. Mac Hodgert and Mrs. Glen
Stewart gave their reports of
their weekend at Westminster
College recently.
The meeting was closed with
the singing of a hymn. Group C
served lunch along with the
hostess Mrs. David Passmore,
agreed to support Hire-A-
Student-Week. Each mayor will
issue a Hire-A Student
proclamation to be published in
the local newspaper.
Letters have been mailed to the
Reeves of the townships asking
for their official support of Hire-
A-Student-Week.
Finally, intensive advertising
has been arranged by the Student
Centre through the local media.
It is felt that these efforts will
result in a greater community
awareness of the advantages of
student hiring.
Miss Marcia Shulman, Embro
spent Sunday with her uncle and
aunt Mr. and Mrs. John Pym.
Mr. and Mrs. Herb Bosley and
Mary, London visited Sunday
with Mr, and Mrs. Glenn Jeffery.
Earl Stephen, Exeter, Mr. and
Mrs. Glenn Rohde, Danny and
Tammy were Sunday guests with
Mr. and William Rohde.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Johns, Mr.
and Mrs. Barry Miller, Robbie,
Kenny and Shelly, Herb Bibby
attended the third Annual Johns
picnic at family paradise Sunday.
The flowers in the church
Sunday were placed there in
memory of the late Mrs.
Margaret Hunkin who passed
away last Thursday. The sym-
pathy of the community is ex-
tended to the family,
Sunday School members are
busy practicing for the an-
niversary Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Cun-
nington and family were Sunday
visitors with Mr. and Mrs. James
Romphf, Arkona.
