Crafts for a penny auction sale for Fun Day in July was discussed, also plans for a Mother and Daughter Banquet, June 1, with a skating party at Skateland in London to follow the dinner, all mothers are invited to this party as well. THE HAPPY GANG MEET The Happy Gang met at the United Church on Wednesday afternoon, with Mrs. Laverne Morley presiding for this meeting, and opening with a sing- song led by Mrs, Morley, with Mrs. Chas, Gowan at the piano, followed by a reading "Grow a Garden" by Lie president. CHURCH NEWS At the United Church Rev. Grant Dawson of the Kirkton- Woodham charge was the guest minister Sunday morning, and took his sermon' from John chapter 16. "When the Spirit of Truthcomes, He will guide you into all Truth".' Christianity is a process by which we are led by God in our relationship with ourselves and with our neighbours, to be a Christian is to do right, to accept the basic truth of God's Love, Compassion, and Justice said Rev. Dawson. Sunday School pupils receiving attendance awards were the following children: First Pin, Steven Nixon, Second Pin, Susanne and Leane Sleeper, and Pamela Waters, Third Pin, Becky Bryan, Wreath, Bonnie Harloff, First Bar, Kim Knap- man. In the children's story Rev. Dawson explained to them how important it is for them to grow in heart and mind as well as stature. We say farewell to Rev. Dawson as he is leaving the Kirkton-Woodham charge to take up his duties in Calgary. We wish him and his family well in their new undertaking. At St. Thomas Anglican Church Rev. Mary Mills conducted the morning Worship taking the text for her sermon from Acts 2 beginning at the first verse, this dealt with the Day of Pentecost which is commonly called Whit Sunday, which is celebrated as a yearly remembrance of the coming of the Holy Spirit among the disciples. A committee was named to look after the arrangements for the Picnic in. June. These members were Mrs. A Crockett, Mrs. C.B, Westman, Mrs, Henry Wissell and Mr. & Mrs. Omer Burnett, also an invitation to join the Lucan Sr. Citizens on their bus trip to the Huron Country Playhouse at Grand Bend to see the play "George Washington slept here", was accepted, Mrs. Bob Garrett gave a very interesting recount of her recent Caribbean Cruise, which was illustrated by a fine collection of slides. After flying to Montago Bay their party joined the Cruise Ship, calling at different Islands on route to the Barbadoes where they took a plane for home, A short friendly game of cards was enjoyed until lunch time. Members with birthdays in May and having their names on the cake were Inez McRobert, Edna Wallis, and Jim Kerr. Box 1585 Exeter, Ontario NOM ISO Telephone (519) 235-2211 Near fatal on Clandeboye area farm A near fatal accident happened Friday on the farm of 'Peter Groenewegen, south of Clan- deboye, when Roger Wood of Watford was assisting a crane operator on a drain project. The cable from the crane came in contact with the high •tension wires and 4800 volts passed through Mr. Wood, burning his shirt and knocking him un- conscious. He was rushed to University Hospital by am- bulance where he regained consciousness and is now listed in good condition and expects to leave hospital this week. Mr. and Mrs. Rupert Williams visited Wednesday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Alton Neil at their home near Edgewood, Alton, who had been a patient in Craigholme Nursing Home for several months has regained his health sufficiently to return home. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Henry and family entertained in honour of Bruce's aunt, Mrs. Edna Rosser, Denfield, who was celebrating her 80th birthday. Mrs. Mary Henry of Craigholme Nursing Home, was a guest also several nieces and nephews. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Groenewegen attended the 25th wedding anniversary of their friends, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Froklage, Cambridge. Wilmer Scott accompanied Lloyd Elgie, of London, on a fishing trip to Quebec, recently. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hindmarsh and family, spent the holiday weekend with Mr. and Mrs, Doug Hindmarsh of Grayslake, Illinois, near Chicago. Mrs. Art Hodgins and Pat visited Tuesday with her sister, Mrs. Russell Brock, Goderich, The Clandeboye ladies softball team won their game on Sunday night 28-2 from East Williams. They play in Arkona Tuesday nieht.
