Sorry Pearl, Mrs. Harry Webber has returned home after spending four weeks visiting with cousins in British Columbia and Alberta and her brother Mr. & Mrs. R, L. McAllister, in Regina, Saskat- chewan. Mrs. John Rodd attended the Westminster weekend held at Westminster College, London. Mrs, Rodd' held the office of Registrar. Mrs. 1,aVerne Rodd is a patient in University Hospital, London at time of writing. Mr. & Mrs. John Simpson and Paul and Mr, Fred Roger of Kirkton and Mr, Fred Doupe of St. Marys were Sunday guests with Mr. & Mrs. Don Brine, Cheryl and Daryl, Mr. & Mrs. Harry Hem, Ivan and Sandra of Zion West and Miss Jean Copeland were guests with Mr. & Mrs. Glenn Copeland, S Cynthia, Ellen and Deanna on Sunday. The annual Sunday School Anniversary was held Sunday with the Rev. Elwood B. Morden of Granton as the guest speaker. Special music was rendered by the Sunday School Choir. The Sanctuary had been tastefully, decorated with flowers by the C.G.I.T. girls. Miss Christine Millman, London spent the week-end with her friend Meagan Jongkind. By KATHY COOPER ELIMYItLE The United Church Women held their monthly meeting Wednesday evening. Mrs. Grace Myna and Mrs. 011ie Cooper were in charge of the programme. They opened the meeting with a hymn followed by a skit with Mrs. Pym, Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. Mar- jorie Johns and Mrs. Jean Lynn taking part. The Bible study was based on "The Prodigal Son", This was read aloud by everyone from the. Bible, Mrs. Marion Skinner read a poem "For You My Son," Mrs, Grace Pym gave in- formation on the breakdown on the different levels of the United Church Women, Everyone joined in singing a° new hymn. Mrs. Cooper led in prayer. Miss Ruth Skinner read the scripture, Mrs. Pym led in the meditation "God's Eagles.; ; The president Mrs. Marjorie Johns opened the business part of the meeting with a poem "After the Storm". The roll call was answered by the name of a plant I bought at the plant seminar and how it is doing. Mrs. Ina Skinner and Mrs. Kay Grubbe will attend the West- minster weekend. Mrs. Elva Routly gave a manse report. Donations were given to ARC Industries at Dashwood and to World Out Reach. The meeting closed with the Benediction. A large • number from the community attended the pork barbecue held at Thames Road Church, Saturday evening. Sunday morning Pat De Jonge was received into the mem- bership of the church by Profession of Faith and Earl Stephen by transfer, Quite a few from the com- munity attended the Achievement Day at the high school Saturday. Each girl modelled her garment she had made during the club "Clothes for Leisure." Caroline Brasser and Cathy Van Roestel received County Honours and Cathy Miller and Pam Coward received Provincial Honours. Mrs. Shirley Prance received her Leadership Award for five years. Summary Day for the quilting course was held Wednesday afternoon in Clinton. A large number from this area attended. Olga Hem, Phyllis Rodd, Grace Pym, Phyllis Gower, Kaye Penhale and Marion Skinner presented .a skit. There wore a lot of lovely and different quilted articles on display, The quitters are reminded to-night, (Thursday) is the night they start cutting out pieces for the quilt that is to be raffled off with the proceeds going to the Kirkton-Woodham Swimming pool. Personals Mr. & Mrs. Hilson Whiteford of Ingersoll visited with the Herd- man Brothers and also Mr...4 Mrs. Wm. Routly on Sunday. Mr. & Mrs. Russell Morley of Exeter visited Sunday evening with Mr. Sr Mrs. Floyd Cooper and family. Several area children attended a couple- of bus trips with other children from Usborne Central School. He is a former high school teacher, having taught at Clinton and Exeter. He owns and operates a 200 acre beef farm in Stephen Twp. Married to the former Leone Bryan of BidduiphTwp. They have a family of four girls and one boy. A Liberal member of the Legislature since 1973, he was the Agriculture critic for the Liberal Party in the last session of the Provincial Parliament. Jack Riddell, Agricultural Critic at Queen's Park, forced Agriculture Minister Newman to re-vamp his "Farm income Stabilization Bill". Jack Riddell has effectively handled hundreds of constituency problems and has sensitively and accurately reflected the best interests of Huron- Middlesex. Jack Riddell has reported faithfully to the people of this riding through his column in the Weekly Press.
