A full program to ac-
commodate boys and girls in the
Exeter minor softball league has
been organized.
To date, 92 children have been
registered to play on the pee wee
and bantam teams. As well,
quite a few boys have registered
for the Stephen township' baseball
league.
The Exeter girls bantam team
is being coached again this year,
by Joyce Morgan and Janice
Brock. These girls have un-
dertaken a very ambitious
project of selling cookbooks to
raise money for ball equipment.
The bantam girls began their
schedule in the Usborne league
last week.
Pee wee boys' teams and pee
wee girls' teams are practising
regularly, and begin their
exhibition series this week. The
Pee wee girls' are coached by
Jane MacLean (MacLean's
Rangers), assisted by Joan
Skinner and by Joanne Wareham
(Wareham's Dodgers) assisted being organized by Mike Soltian.
by Kathy Wallace. The teams are the Wildcats,
The boys pee wee teams are 0401.0 by Bob •Laye, assisted by
Chuck Windsor, And the Eagles
coached by Bruce Shaw assisted
by Mike Soldan,
The Wildcats began their
exhibition schedule Friday, with
a game against the Thames Road
pee wee boys. The Wildcats have
had T—Shirts donated by
Fisher's Hardware.
The pee wee teams have
organized a bottle drive Tuesday
evening, June 7, to raise money
for equipment. Have your pop
bottles ready to help support
these .9-10--11 and 12 year olds.
Any children under 9 years of
age, wishing to play ball, are
asked to phone Don Wallace
(235-0727). If enough boys and
girls are interested, a fun league
will be started,
making a save near game's end.
It was a bad finish to a bad day
for the local club.
The Centennials, normally
quick attackers, didn't really
come alive until the last half was
underway, Earlier, there was the
odd display of offense, but the
shows were few and far between.
Moreover, the Centennial ren-
Ding was aimless, and the club
was forever giving the ball away
through sloppy control,
misjudgement, and absolute lack
of anticipation. • It was largely
due to their keeper, Van
Esbroeck, that they were in the
game at all.
Things looked different for
most of the closing half, however.
The Centennials got some of the
usual elements of their game
back, but missed on chances until
Al Hern turned a rebound into a
picture goal in a losing cause.
The Exeter club plays its next
two games at home. This coming
Sunday they play Lucan, and on
12 June they meet Ailsa Craig.
Both games are at Canner's
Field, starting at 2 p.m.
