Reports on major develop-
ments were presented by most of
the 25 Chairmen at the general
meeting of the Huron County
Committee held in the
Agricultural Office Board Room,
Clinton for the 1978 International
Plowing Match.
The treasurer, Earl Hilderley,
requested each committee
chairman to prepare a budget for
presentation to the executive by
November 1977.
Howick Community Centre has
been reserved for the awards
banquet at the '78 I.P.M. The
billetting committee reported
that a schedule of fees for ac-
commodation is being prepared.
The demonstration committee is
planning to meet with major
machinery exhibitors to plan for
extensive educational field trials.
The Farmstead and Home
Improvement Competition is well
underway. Entry Forms are
available from each Director, the
Agricultural Office and other
points within the County, The
deadline for the prejudged classes
(most improvement from this
summer until next summer) is
June 1st, 1977. Entry fee is $5.00.
Lions clubs in the area have
been contacted about assisting
with parking for the '78 Match,
The publicity committee is
planning a Beef Barbecue which
will be held on the evening of July
14 at the Clinton Arena.
Accommodation for contestants
in the Queen of the Furrow
Competition, sponsors for
wagons and tractors is lined up.
The Team and Horse Com-
mittee is pleased with the
suitable stabling for horses close
to Tented City. The Trailer Park
Committee is checking into

A third year Geography
student, Anna Passchier, is
gaining experience, while
spending fourteen weeks of her
vacation, working for the
Experience 77 Program, in the
Wingham office of the Ministry of
Natural Resources,
Anna, age 20, resides on a farm,
near Blyth. She is studying at the
Western University again this
fall for her fourth year. While at
Wingham, she is under the super-
vision of the District Manager W.
Dan Mansell.
At the Ministry of Natural
Resournces, according to Joan
Hacket, who interviewed Anna,
she said " I will be collecting
background information and
doing reasearch for future land
use planning in the Wingham
District". She is using "The
Southern Ontario Strategic Land
Use Plan" text for a guide, which
her new outline is to correspond
with, Later this information will
be compiled into a booklet form.
Anna will be in contact with
County Planning Departments,
and Conservation Authorities.
The different areas that Anna
will be researching are: Natural
Setting, People History, Natural
Evaluation, Natural Resource,
Development and Use, Services,
Problems and Users.
Anna is very enthusiastic and
feels she is gaining experience in
tnis field of work, even though at
times tedious parts occur.
Funds for
Conestoga
T. Phillip Adams, Deputy
Minister of Colleges and
Universities for Ontario, today
announced that Conestoga
College has been granted $80,000
for the architectural planning of
the proposed Coillege Sports and
Recreational Facility.
Priority will be given to the
construction of a gymnatorium.
Contingent upon some additional
funding from sources outside the
Ministry, an ice arena and pool
facilities will be added.
A sports trust fund, funded by
donations from College students,
faculty and staff has been set up.
In addition, the College will
launch a public fund-raising
drive in June. Assurance has
been given that funds raised from
the private sector will be mat-
ched by Wintario funds.
