Ted Boon of the OPP Grand Bend summer detachment, "The place was full but things were pretty well under control", he said. Sgt. Boon, formerly of the Sombra detachment, commands 28 officers stationed at Grand Bend during the summer months. The officers are appointed or volunteer for the summer location and are from districts one, two, three, five, or eight. "There were quite a few liquor violations as we expected on a weekend of this nature", said Boon. There were approximately 200 liquor, federal statute, and traffic violations, he said, "We were really pleased with what took place this week-end. We had very good cooperation with most of the people", he said. The OPP detachment is located on Main Street in Grand Bend and will be open 24 hours daily. Three cruisers, one motorcycle, a van, and radio communications have been provided for the summer detach- ment. The detachment opened May 18 and will be operative until September 7. Students loin in celebration for jubilee The Grand 13end Public school children, from, kindergarten to Grade 8 assembled in the school gym, Friday morning, to com- memorate Queen Elizabeth's Silver Jubilee. Each . child received a medallion from the Government of Ontario, Three trees were planted in the front yard of the school. One of the trees was donated by Mr. Sr Mrs. Robert Keyes who have been the school custodians for the past 10 years. The Keyes helped plant this free, and the others were planted by representatives from each of the classrooms.
