Sure thing. .01 Page 12 Times-Advocate, May 26, 1977 Thames Road people attend missionievent By MRS, WILLIAM ROHDE THAMES ROAD A number of friends and relatives attended the funeral of the late Mrs. Anna Monteith of Toronto at the Hopper-Hockey Funeral. Horne, Exeter, last. Tuesday. After the funeral friends and relatives gathered at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Ballantyne. The flowers m the church on Sunday were placed there by the Monteith family. Mrs. 4,Frances Traynor and Mary Knowles from Scotland, Mrs. Pearl Baynham, London, accompanied Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Passinore over the weekend to Collingwood, Midland and other points north. Friends and relatives received word of the passing of the late Mrs. Grant Duncan of High River Alberta. She passed away May Is, Friends and relatives who spent the holiday weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Jack Duncan were Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Duncan, Ottawa and Mr. & Mrs. Robert Warren, Windsor. Sunday visitors were Mr. Andrew Tucker, Toronto, Mr. Sr Mrs. Clarence Hawkins, Mr. Bloomfield, London, Mrs. Barry Oliver, David, Ryan and Julie, New Hamburg. Mrs. Rick Parker and infant son arrived home Monday evening from South Huron Hospital Exeter. Mr. & Mrs. William Rohde were Sunday guests with Mr. & Mrs. Earl Benneweis of Brodhagen. A good crowd attended the Mission and Service Church service Sunday morning. Elimville people met with Thames Road for the combined service. A film "In As Much" was shown during the church service. A combined choir of Elimville and Thames Road sang an an- them. Members of the Messengers, Tyros, Explorers, C.G.I.T., Young Peoples Group, Elimville Sunday School, Thames Road Sunday School presented their money to the Mission and Service Treasurer Miss Ruth Skinner. Mr. & Mrs. Eric Luther have returned from a two week trip to St. Johns, Newfoundland, visiting with their son and family, Mr. & Mrs. Don Luther. Charles Mickle, Hamilton spent the weekend with his mother Mrs. Laird Mickle and on Sunday were dinner guests along with Mrs. Florence Joynt with the former's son and daughter-in-law Dr. & Mrs. Robert Mickle and babe in London. Dr. Doug Fox of Huron College, London conducted service in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday. Miss Brenda Pepper presided at the organ and led in the service of song. Sam Rollins and friend of London were recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Joe Flynn. Miss Margaret Hyde, London spent the weekend holiday with her parents Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Hyde, while being served refreshments under the maple trees on the west side of the church. and the third World Countries by their mode of life, can teach us how to live and be happy in high density conditions by giving mutual support, how to achieve non-violence and how to combat covetousness. Following the ser- vice, the congregation had an opportunity to meet Dr. McClure Three attencr tractor school Larry J. Consitt, Hans Holwerda and Stewart Broadfoot of Hyde Brothers Ltd., in Hensall recently attended a four day tractor service school conducted by the Agricultural Equipment Divisions of the Allis-Chalmers Corp. in Milwaukee. This tractor service training school was one of many the company has scheduled around the country for dealers and their service department personnel. The intensive, comprehensive training is designed to keep dealership personnel completely knowledgeable about the design and functioniong of the latest Allis-Chalmers tractor technology. Dealerships aspiring to be certified in the company's Shop Qualification Program are required to maintain a high level of technical knowledge in the areas of service as well as customer satisfaction, dealership management, product sales and other areas. Mr. & Mrs, Ernest Murphy of Dunnville and Mr. & Mrs. Hunt and Telhom of Fonthill visited with. Mr. & Mrs. Bob Heil over the holiday. Sunday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Sam Oesch were their granddaughter and family, Mr. & Mrs, Gordon Maloney and family of Stratford in the afternoon and Mr, & Mrs. Ken Glavin and family of Mount Carmel in the morning. Huron South Womens Institute Attending the District Annual of the Huron South Women's Institute at Grand Bend United Church on Thursday, May 19 were Mrs. Cecil Pepper, Mrs. Pearl Koehler, Mrs. James McAllister, Mrs, Elizabeth Riley, Mrs. Albert Alexander, Mrs. John Corbett, Mrs. Rosa Harris, Mrs. Annie Reid and Mrs, Carl Payne. Sew and Sews The seventh meeting of the Sew-and-sews was held at the home of Sharon Hoffman on Wednesday, May 18. The meeting was opened with the 4H pledge and the minutes were read and approved by Brenda Pepper. The members discussed judging material, trim and seams. The leaders put the eight trim and pieces of fabric on the table and the girls had to decide which piece of material matched the different kinds of trim. They also discussed the skit theme for Achievement Day, acted the skit out and decided who was going to play each part. Many thanks to our two leaders, Diane Gerstenkorn and Sharon Hoffman for taking the time to lead this project. Mrs. Alice Ferg spent the holiday weekend with relatives at Listowel, Mr, & Mrs, Ralph Holland, Gwen and Michael, Clinton visited recently with Mr. & Mrs, James Sangster and Brad. Eric Luther who has been a patient in Victoria Hospital, London during the past week returned to his home Saturday. Miss Dorothy Farquhar of Toronto spent the weekend holiday with her mother Mrs. Emma Farquhar. Messrs. Jack and Al Corbett spent the weekend on a fishing holiday at Silver Lake. Ed Schroeder who has been receiving treatment in Univer- sity Hospital, London returned to his home on Saturday. Robert Lavery is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London where he underwent surgery last week. Many former members and friends gathered at Hensall United Church to hear Dr. Robert McClure speak on the topic, "God's Other Sheep" on Sunday morning, May 22. The servicewas conducted by Rev. Don Beck, supported by Mrs. John Turkheim at the organ and a sixteen voice choir, Dr. McClure spoke of his entry into the Mission Field as a medical graduate at the age of twenty-one and of the support he has had in his work since then, both from Canadians and those of other societies and cultures. The Western World can offer technical and teaching aid Council for the Blind The Huron County branch of the Canadian Council for the Blind met in Clinton on Tuesday, May 17. Guest speaker was Miss Elaine Townsend who gave a stimulating talk on her philosophy of life. Following the meeting a social hour was en- joyed while Mrs. Townsend and Mrs. Fox from Holmesville United Church served lunch.
