Thames Road people
attend missionievent

A number of friends and
relatives attended the funeral of
the late Mrs. Anna Monteith of
Toronto at the Hopper-Hockey
Funeral. Horne, Exeter, last.
Tuesday.
After the funeral friends and
relatives gathered at the home of
Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Ballantyne.
The flowers m the church on
Sunday were placed there by the
Monteith family.
Mrs. 4,Frances Traynor and
Mary Knowles from Scotland,
Mrs. Pearl Baynham, London,
accompanied Mr. & Mrs. Alvin
Passinore over the weekend to
Collingwood, Midland and other
points north.

Mrs. Grant Duncan of High River

tractor school
Larry J. Consitt, Hans
Holwerda and Stewart Broadfoot
of Hyde Brothers Ltd., in Hensall
recently attended a four day
tractor service school conducted
by the Agricultural Equipment
Divisions of the Allis-Chalmers
Corp. in Milwaukee.
This tractor service training
school was one of many the
company has scheduled around
the country for dealers and their
service department personnel.
The intensive, comprehensive
training is designed to keep
dealership personnel completely
knowledgeable about the design
and functioniong of the latest
Allis-Chalmers tractor
technology. Dealerships aspiring
to be certified in the company's
Shop Qualification Program are
required to maintain a high level
of technical knowledge in the
areas of service as well as
customer satisfaction, dealership
management, product sales and
other areas.

Sew and Sews
The seventh meeting of the
Sew-and-sews was held at the
home of Sharon Hoffman on
Wednesday, May 18. The meeting
was opened with the 4H pledge
and the minutes were read and
approved by Brenda Pepper. The
members discussed judging
material, trim and seams. The
leaders put the eight trim and
pieces of fabric on the table and
the girls had to decide which
piece of material matched the
different kinds of trim. They also
discussed the skit theme for
Achievement Day, acted the skit
out and decided who was going to
play each part.
Many thanks to our two
leaders, Diane Gerstenkorn and
Sharon Hoffman for taking the
time to lead this project.
Hensall Sales Barn
Supply consisted mainly of
heifers and steers — demand was
active and prices were steady.
Heifers $38.50 to $41.75, tops to
$42.75; steers $42.00 to $44.60, tops
to $44,75. Pigs, weanlings $33.00
to $38.50; chunks 42.50 to $59,75.

weekend guests with Mr. & Mrs.
Ron Mock and family.
Mrs. Alice Ferg spent the
holiday weekend with relatives at

Eric Luther who has been a
patient in Victoria Hospital,
London during the past week
returned to his home Saturday.
Miss Dorothy Farquhar of
Toronto spent the weekend
holiday with her mother Mrs.
Emma Farquhar.
Messrs. Jack and Al Corbett
spent the weekend on a fishing
holiday at Silver Lake.
Ed Schroeder who has been
receiving treatment in Univer-
sity Hospital, London returned to
his home on Saturday.
Robert Lavery is a patient in
St. Joseph's Hospital, London
where he underwent surgery last
week.
Many former members and
friends gathered at Hensall
United Church to hear Dr. Robert
McClure speak on the topic,
"God's Other Sheep" on Sunday
morning, May 22. The servicewas
conducted by Rev. Don Beck,
supported by Mrs. John
Turkheim at the organ and a
sixteen voice choir, Dr. McClure
spoke of his entry into the Mission
Field as a medical graduate at
the age of twenty-one and of the
support he has had in his work
since then, both from Canadians
and those of other societies and
cultures. The Western World can
offer technical and teaching aid
Council for the Blind
The Huron County branch of
the Canadian Council for the
Blind met in Clinton on Tuesday,
May 17. Guest speaker was Miss
Elaine Townsend who gave a
stimulating talk on her
philosophy of life. Following the
meeting a social hour was en-
joyed while Mrs. Townsend and
Mrs. Fox from Holmesville
United Church served lunch.
