HUGH DAVIS Road Superintendent RR 1, Centralia, Ont. 20:21c "After I treat your animals I'm going to retire, I've had nothing but malpractice suits lately." Parents in the Sunshine Kids Inc. Nursery School recently completed a survey of their members opinions and suggestions on the school. Since the nursery is a co- operative, the parents are responsible for the ad- ministration of the school. They find accommodation and get it licensed by the Ministry of community & Social Service, then hire a teacher, choose, make and buy equipment, set up budgets and decide on fees. Each participating family is expected to send a parent along to the monthly meetings and to specific morning sessions so that there are two parents and the teacher supervising the children each day, On reviewing the year's progress, the majority of parents felt that the school had provided an enjoyable and useful ex- perience, both for the child and parent. It was frequently ex- pressed that the school had a good variety of equipment and program of activities for the child. The purchase of some new equipment this year, such as a large jumping type toy and setting up a library corner would further improve this. Parents indicated the children enjoyed the field trips and there were suggestions for future oneA. This year the school visited places like the fire ball, turkey farm and police station, The trip helped to compensate for the lack of outside playground. The school is held in the primary room of the Exeter United Church and many parents expressed ap- preciation of the use of the lovely big room, In conclusion the parents in- dicated they felt the cooperative nursery to be a worthwhile project and a good opportunity to participate in their child's early education, Registrations are presently being accepted for next year and if there is sufficient enrollment the school may expand to employ an assistant as well as the teacher, Executive Sunshine Kids Inc.
