the Philippines where they first
went in 1969. They were ap-
pointed as missionaries by the
division of World Outreach and
assigned to the United Church of
Christ in the Philippines and
National Council of Churches.
They worked in the co-op system
there.
Mrs. Spencer also related the
life of a dedicated man Vinoba
Bhave. He was called "India's
Walking Saint". He walked 3800
miles working for the land gift
movement, requesting small
pieces of land from the rich and
then giving them to the poor.
Christmas seals hit record
Buffaloburger Days will return
to Grand Bend on June 17 and 18.
The Third Anual Buffalofest is
sponsored by the Grand Bend
Chamber of Commerce and will
be followed by a Beefburger Day
sponsored by the Grand Bend
Lionesses on Sunday, June 19,
Torn Webster, secretary of the
Grand Bend Chamber of
Commerce, said the emphasis
for the festival will be family
entertainment. Four bands will
play at the festival with the In-
Betweens • and the Zurich Ger-
man Band providing Friday
evening's entertainment: Satur-
day's activities will include the
traditional yacht race and

Friends, The Bradleys, a folk
music band from the Clinton

Mr. Webster said the hayride
transportation provided last year
would be available again this
year to carry people from their
parking site on highway 21 to the
Buffalofest tents on Grand Bend
beach.
The flea market held at last
year's Buffalofest will be replac-
ed by a "bigger and better" craft
show.
Other improvements for the
festival will include a larger
order of buffaloburgers. "This
year we have 8,000 burgers
ordered", said Mr. Webster.
The Buffalofest will be held at
Grand Bend beach with no
general admission charge, but
there will be a cover charge Fri-
day and Saturday night after
eight o'clock.
South Huron
Annual today
The annual meeting of the
Huron South District of the
Women's. Institute will be held
today, Thursday at the Grand
Bend United Church.
The theme of the annual will be
"Take time for all things" and
the guest speaker will be Mrs.
Herb Maluske, provincial W. I.
president.
Sessions will be held at 10 a.m.
and 1:15 p.m.
"Prayer" was the theme taken
by Mrs. Howard Scane for the
devotional at the May meeting of
Unit 1 held in the Fellowship Hall
on Thursday afternoon, May 12.
She opened the meeting with
prayer, followed by all singing
the hymn, "My Faith looks up to
Thee" and scripture reading
from Matthew 6, verses 5-15, Her
talk was taken from articles
written by Di'. McClure and Dr.
Wilbur K. Howard and Rev.
Davidson. Prayer is a way of
learning God's will; we are
changed by prayer; when
praying, you are dealing with a
power in the universe which is
beyond your control. Options are

Association, and chairperson of
the group's service to patients
committee, Verna Dunsmore of
Stratford was honoured at the
annual educational meeting of
the association Wednesday night
in Goderich:
She was presented with a
distinguished service pin by
Eileen O'Brien of Goderich,
retiring Lung Association
president.
Also honoured at the meeting
were 1976 ecologist of the year.
Scott Davis of Central Secondary
School in Stratford and runner-up
Nancy Park of Northwestern
Secondary in Stratford,
Christmas Seal givings of
$42,198.Q8 were the highest yet for
the local Lung Association,
guests at the annual meeting
were told by the president, but
fewer people gave more money
as there was a drop in the total
number of contributors.
37 children with asthma from
five counties attended a camp at
Bimini last summer and
breathing classes, a family asth-
ma course and a campaign "Join
the Majority-Be a Non-Smoker"
were among the programs
sponsored by the association, the
president reported.
Receipts, including memorial
gifts of $799.80, totalled $65,423.53
for the 1976-77 year, leaving a
balance on hand at the end of
March of $23,182.21 after ex-

nominations.
Harold Bartman, Stratford, is
the Lung Association's honorary
treasurer and Dr. Frank Mills,
Huron County M.O.H. is the
medical advisory chairman.

DRIVER HURT
Ted Easy, a Parkhill area
trucker who was delivering
drainage tile to the farm of Ross
Riley on the Boundary on
Tuesday, was seriously injured
when the boom of the truck
struck a hydro wire.
The injured man managed to get
to the farm house of Beverly
Hamilton for help,
Mrs. Hamilton called South
Huron Hospital and an am-
bulance was dispatched, Easy
was taken to the Exeter hospital
and then transferred to
University Hospital in London,
where he was placed in intensive
care,
Lodges meet
The Local IOOF and members
of Amber Rebekah Lodges and
guests attended Church service
at the Hensall United Church on
Sunday and were addressed by
the Rev. Don Beck who spoke on
"Practicing God's Presence".

St. Pauls A.C.W.
The regular meeting of St.
Paul's A.C.W. was held on'
Thursday afternoon in the church
basement. The president, Mrs.
Forrest, opened the meeting with
the members prayer followed by
devotions from the Living
Message. Helen Roberts read the
scripture from Matthew 17,
verses 14-20. Annie Read gave the
meditation followed by prayer.
Mrs. Anderson gave the study
book, "Reach for the Sky". A
report was given on the A.C.W.
annual held in London. Plans
were finalized for St. Paul's
centennial on June 19 and then
Rev, Anderson closed the
meeting with prayer,
Presbyterian
. Carmel Presbyterian Church
celebrated their Anniversary
service Sunday when Dr. Doug
Fox, Huron College London was
the guest speaker delivering an
inspiring message on "Land-
marks of the Faith".
The senior choir sang "God is
Great" and the Junior choir sang
two numbers "Try a Little
Kindness" and "I'll Fly Away"
under the direction of Miss
Brenda Pepper, Organist and
Choir leader, Dr. Fox will con-
duct service next Sunday, May 22
at 10:15 a.m.
