Monday night. Councillor Klungel attended a meeting in Zurich concerning the drainage works also on Monday night but managed to return to Hensall in time to report to council, The original assessment to the village was $5118.24, a breakdown of 60 percent of the cost to benefit and 40 percent to outlet. Since Hensell will receive an outlet through the drainage works, their share was 40 percent. However there were three appeals to this assessment basis at the Monday night meeting in Zurich between Hay township, Tuckersmith township and ratepayers involved, The result was the percentage determining payment was reversed with 60 percent going to outlet and 40 percent going to benefit with the resulting $2559.12 increase in Hensall's assessed share. The outlet is important to the village as they are planning to expand their storm sewer system and although very little town water is draining into the system at present, this would change with completion of the storm sewers. Council has proposed renting the stage are on the top floor of the town hall to Agripress for $100 per month, as is. This means any aircondi tinning or heating Bedtime beauties take sleeve work The sixth meeting of the Bed- time Beauties was held at Mrs. Fuss' home on May 3, 1977. The meeting was opened with the 4H Pledge. Roll call was to show the type of trim or finish to be used on your garment and the method of using it. Business covered the meeting next week and the minutes. Discussion was on sew- ing in sleeves and the Bristol Board for the exhibit and hems and sewing on buttons. Home assignment is to finish garment and book. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, May 17. Elect officers for Rebekahs Noble Grand Mrs. Dorothy Parker presided for the meeting of Amber Rebekah Lodge Wednesday evening assisted by the Vice-Grand Mrs. Maggie Campbell, The Charter was draped in memory of the late Sister Sue Leacock, Past President of the Rebekah Assembly and Past Grand Master Brother Albert Bruner. Mrs. Campbell reported for the visiting Committee and Mrs. Margaret Consitt reported for the C.P.T. committee stating a donation was made to the Cancer Society. Cards of thanks were read and the members were reminded of the 65th anniversary of Edelweiss Lodge, Seaforth Wednesday, May 11 and the Past Grand's invitation to Pride of Huron Lodge, Exeter, Thursday May 12. Members are to meet at the Lodge rooms at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Dorothy Parker read the financial statement. Arrangements were made to serve lunch following the church service May 15. We'll Do the Job Right... required by Agripress would have to be supplied by them with the village paying for hydro. Bart DeVries attended the council meeting on behalf of Agripress and expressed the feeling this would be a suitable arrangement. Written confirmation of the rental will take place in the near future. Council endorsed a resolution being circulated by the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority concerning new safety features being made mandatory on chain saws. The Authority wishes the new legislation to deal with newly purchased replacement chain saws only as the cost of replacing all their chain saws would be prohibitive. Council passed a resolution requesting the Ministry of Transportation and Com- munication to pay their share of the cost of the storm sewers draining highways 84 and 4. The sewers are of benefit to the Ministry and their portion of the cost is $25,500. A resolution was passed stating each volunteer fireman in the village has an applicable expense of $300 for income tax purposes. The next regular meeting of council will be held June 13 at 7;30 p.m. Ladies told about world food crisis Unit 2 of Hensall U.C.W. met on Monday evening, May 9 for their May meeting with fourteen members and two visitors pre- sent. Mrs. Jack Corbett chaired the devotional and read a cutting from the Lon- don Free Press about the life of Catherine Selves, a friend of some members of our congrega- tion. Being blind, music transformed her life from darkness to light , After dedication of the Offer- tory, Mrs. Ian McAllister showed pictures of a recent trip to the British Isles, showing the beauties of Ireland and Coventry Cathedral.
