requirements.
As the result of a request from
the Middlesex Assessment
Commission, clerk Ed Melanson
was instructed to check the
assessment roll for any
properties which may be un-

improvements missed.

Different age pattern
Prepare village official plan
The village of Lucan will be
receiving a grant of $6,836.25
from the Ontario Ministry of
Housing for an Official Plan
provided it is completed by
February, 1978.
Clerk Ed Melanson told council
at Monday's regular meeting that
half of the grant has already been
received and planning consultant
Liz Howson is doing the
necessary groundwork and has
forwarded some background
information.
The population of Lucan now
standing at 1,700 is projected to
be 1,930 by 1987 and 3,000 by the
year 2001.
The current population shows
32 percent of Lucan residents are
14 years of age or under and 25
percent between the ages of 25
and 44 years.
The planner reported the
Lucan age pattern was much
different from most small
villages where the bulk of the
population is up to 20 years and
over 70 with relatively few people
in the years of family formation.
Council will meet ,on May 12
with officials of the London
Humane Society to discuss the
problem of dog control in the
village.
At Monday's meeting council
agreed to suspend the current
contract with the Humane
Society but it was amended to
have the move held until after the
May 12 meeting.
Councillor Larry Hotson who
proposed the suspension of the
contract said, "I want some
answers from them on this
subject."
