Recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Arnold Keller were her sister and niece, Mrs. Russell Lee, and Linda Lou of Port Huron. l'isitors with the Keller's dur: past weekend were Mr. & h "ter t Feltz, Terry and Ti of Brinsley, Mr. & Mi .Jax Windsor, Charlie, Billy and Johnny of Exeter and Mr. & Mrs. Dave Gibson of Crediton, Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Dietrich spent the weekend in St. Clair Beach, with Mr. & Mrs. Ted Dietrich. Also visiting Mr. & Mrs. Milford DietriCh and other relatives there, Reeve Bob Sharers stated coun- cil's position bluntly, "If you have clear root of title, produce it in an offer to sell and submit it to our solicitor for his perusal. We're not going to spend any more tax dollars on this thing as we have had our solicitor search the title and he has informed us he is of the opinion you can not obtain a clear title. We have been advised by our solicitor the beach area is crown provincial land and that is where we stand, The ball is in your court." Mr. Ross reminded council if they reject his proposal he will not feel obliged to come back to council but would sell to Grand Bend council learned of the outlet at their Monday meeting when Don Campbell, representing ARC Industries, attended to request the council waive the normal' $200 fee for a Transient Traders fee due to the fact ARC Industries is a non- profit organization for the train- ing of the handicapped, both physically and mentally. The outlet, according to Mr. Campbell, will sell lawn fur- niture, toys and children's fur- niture among other things, all produced by the handicapped. In addition, the outlet will employ four students for the fourteen weeks it is open who will run the store with the help of the handicapped. Reeve Sharen stated the Tran- sient Traders fee covers the regular business tax plus the cost of garbage 'collection. Mr. Campbell stated the garbage collection would be done by ARC Industries and would cost the village nothing. Due to the charitable nature of the outlet, and the benefits ARC Industries has brought to several residents in Grand Bend, council agreed to waive the full $200 fee. MARKS BIRTHDAY Bill Baker of Southcott Pines, celebrated his 80th birthday last Thursday with good wishes and calls from neighbours and friends and his daughter, Mrs. Doreen James, of Peterborough, visited a few days with her parents. A special long distance phone call from Doris' family, the Arianayagam's, brought greetings from Malaysia. whomever he could. Deputy Reeve Bob Simpson said council realized this but were not too worried as they felt certain no one would buy the beach without a clear title and if Mr. Ross could produce a clear title for anyone else he could produce one for council, Mr. Ross added he was getting the feeling council was against purchasing the beach at all, but Simpson hastened to clarify council's position by saying, "Not at all. We're simply against buying something from you that you don't own. If you can prove to us you have a clear title, then we will have no choice but to deal with you." Mr. Ross made the same offer to sell to the Grand Bend Chamber of Commerce who ad- vised council in a written state- ment the Chamber felt the village should consider ex- propriation. This was not con- sidered favorably by council as the cast of expropriation would probably end up by exceeding the $50,000 asked by Mr. Ross. Council did pass a motion stating they are not interested in purchasing the beach from Mr. Ross until such time as he can prove ownership. Mr. Ross remarked he was glad the matter was finally com- ing to a head but he did not say when or if he would supply the village solicitor with a copy of a clear title to the land.
