Close to two hundred area
ladies gathered at Pineridge
Chalet Wednesday to view the
latest in summer fashions from
the Sun Shop in Grand Bend.
The fashion show was spon-
sored by the Huron Country
Playhouse Guild and the ten
models, many sporting beautiful
tans, were Guild members.
The fashion parade began after
a delicious light luncheon with
Melba Landstrom modeling a
delightfully cool ensemble in

Then followed a parade of one
and two piece bathing suits
shown to excellent effect by the
well tanned models. Dorothy
Baldson was stunning in a one-
piece striped swimsuit with a
lace coverup. The coverups for
the beach appeared again and
again ranging the full limit in
lengths and fabrics. Jenny
Huntley modelling a blue one
piece suit sported a velour cover
up which added an air of
sophistication to the suit.
Not all the bathing suits were
one piece, although the one piece
suit is very popular this year.
Phyl Wilkins looked ready for the
beach in a two piece suit and long
lace coverup, and removing the
coverup, she obviously has a
head start on the summer with an
excellent tan. Beth Jean, one of
the models and president of the
Guild, also sported a healthy tan
looking radiant in a two piece
brilliant red bathing suit.
Also included in the showing
were short summer jumpsuits,
long pant suit ensembles and mix
and match items. Gaucho pants,
assorted beach coverups and a
Mexican dress of bright yellow
covered with embroidery gave
model Donna Wood a fun-loving
air.
The outfit that stole the show
was saved for the end and
modeled by the slender Guild
president, Beth Jean. It was
really three outfits in one, spor-
ting a long skirt with a wide
elasticized waist band, a han-
dkerchief look top covering a
smart halter. The handkerchief
tap could be worn with the long
skirt, or removed to let the sun
brown ,,you while wearing the
matching halter top. For that
innocent look simply pull the
skirt up so the elasticized waist
band is now just under the
shoulders forming the bodice and
removethe halter. You now have
a sundress in the latest fashion,
very basic and carefree,
Dorothy Goman, Rosemarie
Maertons and Elsie Tuckey were
the remaining models in the show
and did an excellent job as they
moved gracefully among the
tables full of ladies to give them a
closer look at the garments.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the
show as well as the numerous
draws made for door prizes. The
proceeds from the showing are to
be used by the Guild for the
Huron Country Playhouse near
Grand Bend.
