Sympathy is extended to Mr,
Cooper McCurdy in the loss of his
son-in-law, Dr. Kirk Lyon who
passed away suddenly at his
home in Willowdale. Attending
the funeral were Cooper

The rifle competition was the
main attraction at Saturday's
competition of the Exeter
claybird gun club.
In the scope division, Larry
Mason and Randy Stanlake were
deadlocked for first place with
identical scores of 64 out of 100,
Sue Mason was next with a score
of 40.
Ed Lindenfield was best in the
open site section with Peggy
Lindenfield in the runnerup spot.
Randy Stanlake was best in the
pattern test with Sue Mason
second.
In regular skeet shoot, Randy
Stanlake was tops with a score of
18. Checking in with 17 apiece
were Larry Mason and Ed Lin-
denfield. Kevin Stanlake, Peggy
Lindenfield and Sue Mason were
next.
Members of the gun club are
sponsoring a fishing derby this
Saturday, April 30, at Morrison
Darn. Any boys and girls 14 years
of age or younger are eligible to
compete.
Registration will take place
between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. with
prizes• for the longest and
heaviest fish awarded at 4 p.m.
The fun of feeling free is living

Wednesday evening April 20,
the Women's Institute held their
monthly meeting in the Com-
munity Hall. Roll Call was an-
swered by submitting a written
suggestion for next year's
program. Dues were paid and
annual reports read.
Mrs. Bruce Shapton announced
the District Annual to be held
May 19 at Grand Bend. Mrs.
Shapton, Mrs. Gerald Dearing,
Mrs, Norman Eveland and Mrs.
Cliff Kenney were appointed
delegates. An invitation to cater
for a dinner at Elimville was
accepted.
Mrs. Cliff Kenney, retiring
president, thanked members for
their co-operation during her
term of office; then. Mrs. Walter
Weber conducted the installation
of officers for the next term with
Mrs. Earl Neil reading the report
of the Nominating Committee.

Mrs. Gerald Dearing, newly
installed president, spoke a word

group chorus she read the
Weightlifters' Poem, and with
Mrs. David Cottel, presented a
skit entitled "The Environment
Rat" Next she discussed the
motto: "If it's to be, it's up to
me." Mrs. Robert Ball donated a
crocheted article for the work of
the Institute,

Rowntree Memorial United
Church, London, Sunday evening.
Sunday was Youth Day at Zion
United Church, with Youth Group
members Mary Ellen Schlenker,
Linda Pierce, Doug and Wayne
Klaver leading the morning
service. The sermon was a joint
presentation of view, led by Rev.
Bruce Pierce who challenged
with questions such as: What
does Christianity mean to you?
Can you find a place of service in
the Church? To his questions the
group members replied,

Mr. & Mrs. Tom Kooy and Mr.
& Mrs. Dick Neil were in charge
of the euchre party in the Com-
munity Centre Monday night with
13 tables in play.
Prize winners were: Ladies
high score, Mrs. Roy Swartz;
lone hands, Mrs. Jack Dickins;
low, Mrs. Otto Darling. Men's
high, Tom Tomes; lone hands,
Tom Yearley; low score, Nelson
Squire.
Tickets had been sold on the
table lamp made and donated by
Mr. Earl Dixon in aid of the
Community Centre kitchen fund,
The draw was made and Mrs.
Larry Cronyn was the holder of
the lucky ticket. Mr. & Mrs.
Lawrence Hirtzel and Mr. Sr Mrs.
Otto Darling will convene the
next party.
Senior Citizens enjoyed an
afternoon of cards and crokinole
in the Community Centre on
Monday followed by lunch,

Cecil Skinner back in his usual

Group is a public presentation of
the film "A Thief in the Night," in
the Church Saturday May 7, at 8
p.m, This film,one that received
the Best Film of the Year award
from the National Evangelical .
Film Foundation, shows what
may happen when Christ returns.
A large crowd attended the
funeral service for Barry
Morlock in Zion United Church
Monday. Classmates and
business associates came from as
far away as Thunder Bay and
Kentucky.

After one week of play-offs,
eight teams are now in the
championship round, while the

round in the Exeter Legion mixed
dart league.
