Twenty one ladies and 10
children attended the Women's
institute meeting. Thursday
afternoon at the town hall. A
display was on view of the ladies
winter handwork, including
quilts, toys, pictures, jewellery
and painting.
President, Mrs. Nola Taylor
opened with a poem "The Best
things in life are free". Roll Call
was payment of fees. District
Director, Mrs. Alec Hamilton
reported on the spring board
meeting she attended at Hensall.
Plans were finalized for the
District annual, which Grand
Bend will be hosting, May 19, at

Firemen get
cash reward
As a reward for the "prompt
response and effective actions of
the Grand Bend Fire Brigade",
Bell Aerospace of Canada
donated $100 to the Department.
The donation was prompted as
Grand Bend firefighters had
battled a blaze for three hours in
the boiler room at sell Aerospace
on Friday, April 8.
James G. Mills, managing
director of the company, ap-
preciated the efforts made by the
firemen in saving the company
from a serious loss.
Fire Chief H. Hamilton, and the
Grand Bend Volunteer Fire
Brigade handed the donation
over to the Muscular Dystrophy
Association.

71 years wed .
Mr. & Mrs. Art Baker observed
their 71st Wedding Anniversary
Monday, April 25.
Both enjoy fairly good health.
Mrs. Baker resides at the
Bluewater Rest Home at Zurich
and Mr. Baker lives at his home
in Green Acres, Grand Bend with
his daughter, Mrs. Lillian Brown
and grandaughter, Alice Brown.
Mr. & Mrs. Earl Baker, St.
Thomas, visited a day last week,
with their great uncle, Mr.
Baker.

exchange of sewing and knitting

obligation basis to the donaters to
