This past week's beautiful
weather has put the tractors to
humming and the early grain is
being sown.
St. Andrews U.C. W. Entertain
Kippen U.C.W. entertained the
ladies from Bayfield, Brucefield
and Chiselhurst at their April
meeting Tuesday April 12, with
about 50 guests present. Mrs.
Ross Broadfoot presided at the
organ.
The president, Mrs. David
Cooper, opened the meeting with
a few words of welcome. Mrs.
Jack Sinclair gave the worship,
Two solos by Miss Elaine
Westlake of Zurich accompanied
by Mrs. G. Moffatt were much
enjoyed.
Mrs. Keith Lovell introduced
the guest speaker Mrs. Eric
Luther of Hensall and courtesy
remarks were given by Mrs.
Ronald McGregor, Everyone was
invited to the Sunday School
Rooms for a social hour. Lunch
was served by the hostesses Mrs.
Norman Dickert and Mrs. John
Cooper assisted by the social
committee and the group
leaders,It was a very enjoyable
evening.
Sympathy of the community is
expressed to Mr. Vern Alderdice
on the sudden death from a heart
seizure of his father, Hugh
Alderdice of Meaford, Monday,
April 11.
Mrs. Margaret Hutchison, St.
Thomas, has been visiting during
the past week with Mr. & Mrs.
W.L. Mellis.
Foothills; "Cops", staring Buster
Keaton, provoked lots of laughs
as viewers were taken back to the
old days of silent films and old
fashioned humour; "Australia",
gave a bird's-eye view of the
great continent of Australia.
Between films, community
singing was enjoyed.
During the business session,
plans were completed to attend
the Spring Zone Rally in Dash-
wood on April 14 and con-
tributions to the Zone and U.C.O.
in Toronto were approved. The
carpet bowling equipment has
arrived and members are invited
to attend on Monday evening
April 18 to learn the game. A
committee was named to arrange
for the shuffleboard court at the
back of the hall— Perce Camp-
bell, Alf Ross, Bill Rogerson and
Roy Consitt were named, A
motion for the entertainment
committee to look after ad-
mission dues was carried. It was
decided to arrange a bus trip in
the Fall so as not to clash with
other organizations. Hilda Payne
and Pearl Taylor were named to
arrange a trip.
Happy birthday was sung for
those with birthdays in April and
at the close of the meeting a
delicious lunch was served by
Maggie and Earl Campbell and
Ruby Bell.
Bedtime Beauties
The fourth meeting of the
Bedtime Beauties opened by all
repeating the 4H Pledge. The roll
call was, "Name the type of seam
we used in making our sleep-
wear, how we finished the seams
and the reasons for doing so. For
discussion, we discussed the
cover of our books, the topic for
Achievement Day and different
types of trim for garments. For
home assignments we are to
finish trim and darts and start a
collection of pictures and ideas
for using trim on loungewear and
sleepwear, work on the garment
project
Personals
Mr. John Henderson has
returned from a four-week trip to
Australia. He spent most of the
time in Adelaide and Sydney, but
drove over 4,000 miles in the four
weeks seeing many interesting
spots.
Mr. & Mrs. Earl Flaxbard of
Zurich visited with the latter's
parents, Mr. & Mrs, Sam Oesch
on Friday evening. Mr. & Mrs.
Ken Glavin, Anthony and Lisa
visited on Sunday. Anthony and
Lisa are great-grandchildren of
Mr. & Mrs. Oesch.

A good crowd attended
Alleluia Night Friday evening in
the church basement. Rev. Barry
Robinson was chairman for the
program which consisted of
skits, dialogues by the U.C,W.,
musical numbers by the choir,
kindergarten class, and in-
termediate classes,
Piano solo by Alan Pym, guitar
and vocal solo by Cheryl Stewart,
humorous reading by Mrs.
William Rowcliffe, drum
selections by Heather Reid and
Rev. Barry Robinson,
The Young People had a
humorous skit with Rev. Barry
Robinson getting the whip cream,
This brought an enjoyable
evening to a close.

trip from Stratford to Toronto
where they visited the C.N.
Tower and the new Eaton's

and absent.

banquet.
