Darlene Sillel-y and Mark Mathers sang several Easter numbers and Heather Hun gave accordion numbers, after which lunch was served. A very successful dessert euchre was held recently in' the Lodge Hall. Mrs. Joyce Morgan VG welcomed all the ladies. Prizes were won as follows: Lone hands, Mrs. Ruby Bell; High, Mrs. G. FRED BOWDEN CENTRALIA A large congregation including many visitors attended the Easter service in the Centralia United Church, Sunday morning. A Centralia-Zion West com- bined choir under the direction of Douglas Gill presented their Easter Cantata in both chtirches. Mrs. Ray Mills was the soloist in the Zion Church and Mr. Harry Hern in Centralia. Solo parts were taken by Mrs. Russell Wilson and Mrs. Lorne Hern. There was organ and piano ac- companiment for the hymns and the offertory music was an organ and piano duet by Mr. Gill and Mrs. Lorne Hern. The Sacrament of the Lord's supper was observed. The Easter decorations made an attractive setting for the service. A number of girls from the Young People's Sunday School class attended the Easter Sunrise service at Morrison Dam Sunday morping, Euchre party There were 11 tables in play at the euchre party in the Com- munity Centre on Monday night with Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Hirtzel, Mr. Laverne and Miss Ruth Skinner in charge. Prize winners were: Ladies high score, Mrs. Jack Dickens; lone hands, Mrs. Della Hamilton; low, Mrs. Dick Neil. Men' high, Roy Swartz; lone hands, Nelson Squire; low, Murray Carter. The travelling prize was won by Joe Carter, Mr, and Mrs. Tom Kooy and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Neil will convene the next party. Personals Senior Citizens met in the Community Centre Monday afternoon for an afternoon of crokinole and cards followed by lunch. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Wilson Plan farm trade show Exeter is playing host to the area's first Farm Trade Fair on April 15 and 16, The fair is being sponsored by James Rowe in cooperation with Texaco. There will be displays by various farm equipment dealers including Massey Ferguson, Ford, and Kongskilde. By MRS. THOMAS HERN ZION Zion West United Church Women held their April meeting Wednesday evening in the church with an Easter theme, Mrs. Ray Jaques conducted the worship service. She gave a number of articles on customs of Easter. Mrs, Wayne Hern gave a reading. Mrs. Gerald Hern gave the topic on Missions in the dif- ferent worlds with a descriptive map of the countries. A film strip on the effects of lack of vitamins was shown and commentated on by Mrs. Morris Hem. She also spoke on the effects of poor nutrition and how Canadian organizations are supporting the developing countries in the 3rd and 4th worlds, She concluded with posters and pictures of how we are polluting and how we can help, The President Mrs, Lorne Hern conducted the business, Roll call was answered with a donation for the cancer society. Mrs. Earl Miller gave a report on the OM conference held in Sarnia. A display of the pyjamas made for the Childrens Aid was shown.The meeting closed with a film strip and family attended a dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Lambie in Thedford on Sunday in honour of Murray's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm, Lam- bie, on the occasion of their 30th Wedding Anniversary. Mrs. John Thompson visited aver the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Don Heaman and family in London. On Easter Sunday all were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Eaton and family in Chatham. Diocesan official 'speaks at Trivitt The ACW meeting was held Tuesday evening, in Trivitt Memorial Hall. Mrs. Alan Elston chaired the meeting. Mrs. George Anderson was in charge of Bible study while Miss Verna Greenlee and Mrs. E. L. Gibson gave.Scripture readings. Plans were made for some of the ladies to attend the ACW an- nual to be held at St. James (Westminster) Church on May 5 when the thank offering goes in. June 7th there will be pie bee in the parish hall. After the business meeting the President introduced Mrs. Sharpe, diocesan representative for Perth Deanery. She brought along a friend, Mrs. Barker to the meeting. Mrs. Sharpe spoke of the different departments in the ACW work. Refreshments were served afterwards by Mrs. H. Bierling and Mrs. Bruce Tuckey. Auxiliary hold pot luck event Over 60 members of the Womens Auxiliary to South Huron Hospital attended the pot luck luncheon at 1:00 p.m. Tues- day. The business meeting followed at 2:30. Mrs. Walter Davies, past president, chaired the meeting. The rummage sale will take place Friday, April 22 at Huron Park Recreation Hall from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. There will be a townwide pickup April 21 begin- ning at 9:00. Auction sale at 1:30 p.m. The silent auction will close at 5:00 p.m. • Several members are planning to attend ,the Spring Conference of District No. 2 being held at South Waterloo Memorial Hospital, Cambridge on Monday, April 25. The heritage shop spon- sored by the Heritage Founda- tion and the Hospital Auxiliary hopes to open May 3rd and will be open Tuesday and Friday afternoons from 1 to 5, Speaker tells about theatre Xi Gamma Nu Chapter met last week at the home of Maida Gaiser. Maida introduced the guest speaker Mrs. Pat Quigley for the evening program on Live- ly Arts. Mrs. Quigley, a teacher at South Huron District High School spoke on the history of the theatre and she also told about a theatre Arts Course offered at the High School. Bev Delbridge thanked the speaker. Pat Fletcher president conducted the business portion of the meeting. The final plans were made for the Founders Day Banquet to be held April 26. The Daffodil Day will be held April 15. The date for the Blood Donor Clinic will be May 3 at S.H.D,H.S. Lunch was served by the hostess, Beth Jamieson and Brenda Hennessey. on the Resurrection, Easter lilies and mums decorated the church for the Easter Service which was ob- served Sunday morning with Rev. John Beaton as minister.An Easter Cantata by a combined choir from Centralia and Zion accompanied by Mr. Gill as organist and Mrs. Lorne Hera as pianists was much enjoyed followed by the Sacrament of the Lords Supper, Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Hern and Lynne were Sunday dinner guests with Mr. & Mrs. Cliff Webber, Stratford, on Monday. They enjoyed the Huron Holstein Club annual bus trip, Miss Linda Hem, London spent the weekend with her parents Mr. & Mrs. Bob Hern, Fred and Robbie.
