Thursday evening we left with snow on the ground and arrived in Nashville at 9:45 to a beautiful day, Friday was spent touring the stars homes, and Saturday was spent at Opryland and the Grand Old Opry at night, Sunday we left for home, arrived in Crediton a very tired group. Lockhart, Strathroy were Sunday visitors with their daughter, Linda and Willie Feke. Tonya and Shane Williams, Lobo spent the weekend with their grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Rupert Williams. Their parents, Wayne and Charlene Williams were guests on Sunday also Jackie and Jim McCombs and family of Elginfield. Mr. & Mrs. Cecil Lewis returned from Florida this week where they had been since Christmas. Mrs. Annie Lewis, London returned with them after spending two weeks with her son and daughter-in-law in Florida. Doug and Dawn Lewis, London spent Friday with the former's parents, Mr. & Mrs. Arnold Lewis. Mr. & Mrs. George Qeeuge and family, Chelmsford and Mr. & Mrs. Andy Vis and family, Val- Caron, near Sudbury, spent the weekend with their sister, Aggie and Pete Groenewegen and family. Sunday, Mrs. Arnold Blake visited her aunt Mrs. Gertie Glenn at the Craigholme Nursing Home, Ailsa Craig. Later she visited with another aunt, Mrs. Gladys Hall, London. Mr. & Mrs. Kurt Gebel at- tended the grand opening last week of their son's new store, Erwin's Floor and Tile Ltd. on Hamilton Road, London. Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Ovens and Mr. & Mrs. Doug Ovens attended the Shackleton-Anderson wed- ding in Springfield on Saturday. Mr. & Mrs. Claire Schwartz, Crediton and Mr. & Mrs. Bob Davies, Beechwood were Friday guests of Mr. & Mrs, Bruce Henry and family and all attended the Ontario Bible College. Preparations were made for the Mother and Daughter banquet to be held Friday, May 6, with Miss Anne Reuber as guest speaker. Hostesses Miss Ella Morlock, Mrs. Leonard Wein and Mrs. Lloyd Lamport served lunch. Good Friday service at Lucan where "The New Canadian Gospel Singers" presented the Easter message in song. Mr. & Mrs. Lewis Raycraft are home again after spending two months in sunny California. They reported a most enjoyable time and are planning to go again next winter. Carol and Joe Mackovjac and family, Erie, Pennsylvania spent the weekend with her uncle, Roy and Gladys Cunningham and family. Church news The Easter Holy Communion service at St. Jatnes Anglican church with Rev. J. W. Hofland was well attended. Special music was provided by soloist, Bob Heywood of Centralia ac- companied by guitarist Calvin Horner of Parkhill. Easter service at the United• Church was in charge of Rev. Charles Scott, Chaplain of London. The Junior choir under the direction of Debbie Lynn sang "In the Garden" and Brenda Scott sang "The Old Rugged Cross". Next Sunday will be Holy Communion and Rev. Cecil Jardine of London will take the service. 4-H The sixth meeting of Clan- deboye No. 3 "Super Sewers" was held at Mrs. Ralph Lynn's home on Saturday, April 9. The roll call — Bring a picture of a person dressed in his native costume or an old photograph from the family album two or three generations old and if possible find out the date and location of the photo was an- swered by five members. Why wear clothing was discussed and clothing reflects the times. The leaders demon- strated how to put on a collar and sleeves .Next meeting will be April 23. 4-H Clandeboye No. 2.4-H Club held their third and fourth meetings at the home of Mrs. Groenewegen. The roll calls — Show my Line and Colour Plan and explain my choice for my basic colour, and two questions I ask myself or the salesclerk when I am shopping for clothes, fabric or accessories were answered by all the members. The main topics discussed were "Wardrobe Building" and "Suggestions for Satisfying Spending." Bruce Kinsley, former Crediton resident was brought to Crediton last Wednesday for burial in the Crediton cemetery. He spent the last years of his life in the Sunnyside Retirement Home, Kitchener. Mrs. Hugo Schenk was in Mississauga last week with her son Edward. Mr. & Mrs. David Pike, Toronto, were Easter guests of Mrs. Nelson Lamport and Dale, Mrs. Chris Dinney visiting with Mr. & Mrs. J. L, Taylor of Georgetown has been admitted to the hospital there. Mr. & Mrs. Melvin Finkbeiner, Douglas and Darren, Chatham, visited at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Russell Finkbeiner. Mr. & Mrs. Will Oestricher spent the weekend at Don Mills with Mr, & Mrs. Robert Green- wood and family. Good Friday the fire siren woke residents during the night. The fire, at the farm of Richard Fulcher, Concession 10 and 11, was quickly extinguished . There was a Schlenker family reunion Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Ken Dedman and child, Mr. & Mrs. Carmin Schlenker, Mr. & Mrs. Max Howard and child of Kitchener home for Easter with Rev, & Mrs. Armin Schlenker and Mary Ellen. Rev. & Mrs. Jerry Vandeworp and .family, Kitchener were with Mrs. Marguerite Finkbeiner. Last week twenty-three couples enjoyed a three-day bus trip to Nashville, Tennessee, a trip arranged by the Crediton and District Men's Social Club. The weather was beautiful after they- left Ontario. Mr. & Mrs. Howard Renney, Detroit, visited with Harry and Maurice Hirtzel and Mr. & Mrs. Emerson Wein. Last week was a busy one at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Emmery Fahrner. Mrs. R. W. Palmer, Ottawa, spent several days with her parents. Mr. & Mrs. Don Wilkinson of Milton called. Mr. Wilkinson is a nephew of Major Palmer. Bruce Pierce. Readings were given by Mary Ellen Schlenker, Harry Schroeder, Mrs. Ross Pickering and Mrs. Bruce Pierce, At seven o'clock, Sunday morning a group gathered at the church to celebrate the resurrection. Scripture was read and choruses sung, Participants enjoyed breakfast before returning to their homes. At the ten o'clock service, Rev. Pierce spoke on The: Reality of the Resurrection. Mrs. Walter Fydenchuk read the New Testament lesson, and the choir, under the direction of Mr. Douglas Lewis, provided special 'music. UCW meet Thursday evening the UCW held their April meeting in the Sunday School rooms. Mrs. Allan Finkbeiner, Mrs. Harold Fahner, Mrs. Gordon Ratz, Mrs. Ross Pickering conducted the Easter program. Easter hymns were sung, Scripture read, a group prayer repeated and the story of the , Emmaus disciples dramatized in readings. Doris Schwartz sang Calvary Love, accompanied by Mrs. Gordon Finkbeiner. Roll Call was answered by naming something worn made outside of Canada. Mrs. Nelson Lamport wore a Fijian costume brought back from that island by her daughter, Mrs. David Pike, who served " there with her husband under CUSO.
