Twin boys
are baptised
Rev. W. D Jarvis conducted
service in Carmel Presbyterian
Church on Palm Sunday,
speaking on the subject "Even
the stones would cry out". Miss
Brenda Pepper led the choir at
the organ.
Rev. Jarvis baptized the twin
sons of Fred and Sandra Funk,
Brian Frederick and Michael
Edward. The session of the
church will meet on April 12 at
8:15 p.m.

The annual meeting of the
Hensall Curling Club was held on
March 28, 1977 at the Vanastra
Curling Club. The election of
officers for the coming year was
as follows: President, Doug
Shirray, 1st Vice President, Dave
Schurman; 2nd Vice President,
Ken Clarke; Sedretary
Treasurer, Eric Luther.
The Social Games and Mem-
bership Committee for the
coming year will be: Doug and

"Compassion" showed slides of

The new Social, Games and
Membership Committee will
meet with the Hensel] Parks
Board prior to May 1, 1977 to
discuss plans for curling in the
new Hensall and District Com-
munity Centre next year.
It was resolved unanimously
that Eric Luther should make his
professional curling ability
available in the way of curling
instruction for the 1977-8 season
to all Curling Club members with
particular emphasis on all other
skips.

Compassion has two function.
To take care of children in
destitute countries and to conduct
Evangelistic Outreach Cam-
paigns. In this way, they en-
deavour to give both physical and
spiritual aid.
This being the Easter meeting,
Joy was the subject of the
devotional given by Mrs. J.
McAllister and Mrs, F. Slade. Joy
is the Christian message at both
Christmas and Easter — without
Joy our worship is an empty
shell. We should endeavour to
recapture the joy of the first
Christians as they chanted, "He
is Risen,"
Mrs. Knowles was introduced
by Mrs. Audrey Christie and
thanked by Mrs. Doreen Spencer.
Mrs. Laird Mickle accompanied
the hymns and Mrs. Belva Fuss
sang, "There is a green hill"
accompanied at the piano by
Mrs. Gertie Middleton, ,
The meeting was presided over
by Mrs. Grace Drummond, ist
vice-president, who conducted
the business. The beef barb-b-que
will be held on May 25, proceeds
to go to either the Window Fund
or the Manse Fund. A new
committee is to be formed. "The
Church in the Society", which
will include much of the work
which we have been doing in the
past, such as visiting and packing
bales, and some new interests
also,
U,C.W. and urged to write to
their MP's etc, regarding the
Universal Coding in grocery
stores, A special meeting is to be
held on June 20 when neigh-
bouring UCW's will be en-
tertained.
It is hoped to arrange a con-
cert, to be given in the Sanctuary,
to be held in the fall which the
Brant "Men of Song" will
present. Both ladies and men's
choirs will take part.
Mrs. Drummond thanked all
who had taken part and after the
Mizpah Benediction, a social
hour was held during which a
dainty lunch`was served,
their own door to door canvass
and this will be co-ordinated by
Doug Shirray and Bob Caldwell.
Any firms doing business with or
supplying products to our local
businesses will be contacted for a
donation.

Community Centre Fund Raising
Committee has been formed to
provide funds for our new
Community Centre. The com-
mittee is made up as follows:

Residents of Hensall and the

advised by letter of the project
cost and financing plans which
are as follows:

Palm Sunday Service at
Hensall United Church was
conducted by Rev. Don Beck,
who took as his sermon topic, "A
King of Different Sorts."
Followers in the Kingdom of
Christ must Trust and Serve. The
mixed choir very ably sang,
"Ride on, King Jesus", Com-
munion .Service will be held on
Maundy Thursday evening at 7.30
p.m. for Hensall and Chiselhurst
and an Easter Sunrise Service
will be held for both
congregations at 6.30 a.m. at the
Hensall Church.
Womens Institute
The Annual Meeting of, the
Hensall Women's Institute will be
held in the Legion Hall on
Wednesday, April 13 when
reports and the new Slate of
Officers will be presented.
Membership is open to all women
of the community.
