HERE'S LOOKING AT YOU — 12-year-old Ron Relouw engages in a
stare-down with the lion at his family's Pineridge Zoo. Fortunately, Ron
has a heavy wire cage between himself and his adversary, as the beast
kept licking his chops and appeared to have other ideas besides just
looking. T-A photo

YOU SCRATCH MINK — Matt Relouw rubs the paw of a mountain
lion at the Pineridge Zoo near Grand Bend, much to the enjoyment of
the animal. (Or was he thinking of grabbing that hand?) The two lions
usually provide the zoo with a couple of litters each year and the
operators hope this year will be no exception. T-A photo

THAT'S BEN — Four-year-old Gary Relouw watches over his shoulder
as his friend, Ben, sniffs the fresh spring air at the Pineridge Zoo at
Grand Bend. Many of the animals, such as the black bear, spend the
winter in their cages, while others are put in special barns. The zoo is
starting to buzz with spring activities and will be opening again in
May. T-A photo
