SUNDAY CFPL-TV's Team Ten hockey club will visit Huron Park Arena
on Sunday, March 20 at 3:00 p.m. for a benefit hockey game against
the Exeter Kinsmen Selects. Leading Team Ten onto the ice will be Pat
Donelan and Carol Campbell of Channel 10's Morning Break
program, with weatherman Bill Hutchings, Yogi Bear and Huckleberry
Hound also scheduled to be on hand for the game. Here a Team Ten
player takes "home movies" while the opposing team is probably scor-
ing a goal! All proceeds will be donated to the Exeter Minor Hockey
Association.
Family farms would
benefit in proposals
similar to current provisions
relating to transfers of farm
property by the farmer to his
child,
The brief also deals with other
measures designed to benefit
individuals and small
businessmen.
Amendments, as proposed by
the C.G.A.s, would permit tax-
payers to set aside larger
amounts of their income for the
purchase of pension and
retirement plans and thus help to
keep pace with inflation. Other
changes are recommended in the
capital gains tax as it relates to
growing small businesses.
The effect of all C.G.A.
proposals would be to bring the
Income Tax Act in line with its
stated intent of a "fair and
equitable distribution of the
country's tax burden."

Family Farm operators would
be big beneficiaries of tax
proposals recommended by the
Certified General Accountants
Association of Ontario.
The C.G.A., in a brief sub-
mitted to the federal department
of finance recently, seek tax
relief from the impact of capital
gains on transfers of shares of
incorporated family farms.
The brief, result of a study by
the 2,500 member Ontario
Association says the current
capital gains provision of the
Income Tax Act applies only to
transfers of farm property by a
farmer to his child,
But this provision does not
apply in the case of an in-
corporated family farm and as
such "creates an undue hardship
as it disregards the reasons why
se many family farms were in-
corporated."
It says these reasons are
usually to obtain financing, for
pooling of resources to increase
efficiency or to obtain a more
equitable distribution of earnings
from farm operations.
All these, says the brief, are
sound business reasons, and are
recognized by the Province of
Ontario in treating family farm
shares as farm property for
succession duty and land
speculation purposes.
The C, G.A's propose to lessen
the impact of taxes in order to
maintain the economic status of
the business entity, and not to
create "a situation which could
be interpreted as an attempt to
unfairly defer taxes."
The C.G,A.'s recommend that
shares of closely held in-
corporated family farms be
placed under provisions of Sub-
section 73 (3) and Sub-section 70
(9) — so that incorporated family
farms would be provided relief
