THAT every owner or harborer of a dog or dogs shall on or
before the 15th of MARCH in each year pay to the Municipal
Clerk the following license fees:
For a male dog or spayed female dog

Clandeboye
man dies
CLANDEBOYE
Kenneth William George
Carter died in University
Hospital on Monday, March 7,
1977, in his 72nd year,
Mr. Carter was a life long
resident of Clandeboye area, a
member of St. James Anglican
Church and the current vestry
clerk. He was also a member of
the cemetery board.
During his very active lifetime
he followed a variety of
vocations. His first venture into
the business world was in
banking with the Standard bank
in Lucan.
His longing for the outdoor life
took over and he worked for the
Ontario Hydro, the railroad,
McGillivray township works
department as a grader operator
and eventually returned to far-
ming. In 1932 he married Viola
Lee and they had two children a
son Clarence of Clandeboye and a
daughter Patricia (Mrs. John
Brownlee) of Gravenhurst. There
are seven grandchildren,
He hak a brother Andrew living
in Exeter and Amber deceased,
From May 1947 to December
1970 Mr, Carter was the Supertest
farm agent for the area, during
which time he was named agent
of the year,
He was a McGillivray
representative on the Lucan and
Community Memorial Arena
Board for the past 25 years and a
long timemember of Irving Lodge
No. 154,
The funeral will be held on
Thursday ,at 2:30 p,m. from. the
Haskett Funeral Home, Lucan
with interment in St, James
Cemetery, Clandeboye.

from a holiday in Florida. They
visited Mrs. Latta's aunt in
Alabama, enroute home.
Mr. & Mrs. Don Lankin,

family were Sunday dinner
guests of Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Lynn
and family.
The community was deeply
saddened on Monday to hear of
the death of Ken Carter, a life
time resident of this community.
Our sincere sympathy is ex-
tended to his wife and family,
also his brother Andy of Exeter.
Rev. Charles Scott, Chaplain at
the London Psychiatric Hospital
was in charge of the service at
the United Church Sunday and
will continue to conduct the
services for the month of March.
The euchre party scheduled for
Friday night at St. James
Anglican church has been can-
celled.

The Thames Road-Elimville
UCW held "World Day of
Prayer" at the Elimville church
on Friday afternoon. Taking part
in the program were Mrs. June
Stewart, Mrs. Marion Cann, Mrs.
Marilyn Pym, Mrs. Jean Cann
who provided a musical number,
Mrs. Marjorie Johns, Miss Ruth
Skinner, Mrs. Marion Skinner
and Mrs. Leona Hern who read
the scripture. Everyone enjoyed
the film "I can ski," A social hour
was enjoyed at the close of the
meeting.
The first meeting of Elimville
II 4-H club. was held Monday
evening at the home of Mrs.
Joyce Fulton. The leaders are
Mrs. Joyce Fulton and Miss Joan
Kerslake.
They held the election of of-
ficers: President, Nancy Cooper;
vice-president, Donna Kerslake
and cover designer, Joan Ker-
slake. They will have a rotating
secretary. The clubs name is
"Perky P.J.'s." They discussed
what they could make and the
material that they could use.
The Elimville Women's
Institute held a euchre Monday
evening at the hall. Prize winners
were ladies high, Mrs. Geraldine
Grimminck; mens high, Floyd
Cooper; travelling lone hands,
Mrs. Myrtle Hanna; hidden
score, Bill Stephen; low, Allen
Johns. There will be another

Sigma Phi met at the Exeter
Public School.
After a brief business meeting
in one of the class rooms, Xi
Gamma Nu joined their sister
Chapter, Alpha Pi, in the school

Bowen, divided the group in two,

All present were reminded that
April 15 will be Daffodil Day in
Exeter for the Cancer Society.
All parents, trustees, teachers,
students, employees, and
ratepayers having an interest in
the Huron County Board of
Education Schools located in the
southern part of the county are
invited to become involved in an
evaluation of their local school
system by volunteering to join a
committee.
The first phase of the
evaluation is internal and a
number of committees will be
needed. The members will not be
evaluators. They will be the
agents to help people evaluate
themselves regarding their at-
titudes, roles and programs.

Prayer at 11 a.m, at Kirkton
United Church.
Guests were present from
Woodham United and Kirkton
Anglican, Mrs. Al Eveleigh, Mrs.
C. Switzer, Mrs, W. Selves, Mrs.
R. Shamblaw and Mrs. R,
Paynter took part in the service

Kirkton No, 5 held their fifth
meeting on March 1 with Donna
Bickell being the hostess. Roll
call was The way lamb or veal is
served in my home.
Sheila Duncan, Susan
Schaefer, Shirley Freer, and
Cathy Ecker have been elected as
a committee to plan a dinner
Mrs. Paynter gave a lesson on
veal. Wiener Schnitzel is pan-
fried, breaded veal cutlets.
Moist-heat methods are used for
cooking smaller cuts.
Dry-heat methods are used for
cooking larger cuts and in either
case should be cooked slowly.
The older the animal is the
darker red the meat is. .Mrs.
Urquhart gave a lesson on lamb.
Lamb is most plentiful from
September to December..
Up to 14 months old it is called
lamb and after 14 months is
called m utton. Many types of
vegetables can be served with
lamb or it can be garnished with
peach halyes, pear halves or
tomatoes.

and weaknesses, and to make
recommendations for areas of
development.
Most parents have received a
letter from their school inviting
participation but ratepayers who
do not have children in school
presently and who wish to par-
ticipate may call their local
school and leave their name and
telephone number.
The family of schools involved
includes the South Huron District
High School and its feeder
schools—Exeter P.S., Hensall
P.S., J.A.D. McCurdy P.S,,
Stephen P,S,, Usborne P.S.,
Zurich P.S. and the Huron Hope
S.M.R.
Jim Chapman, internal
evaluation co-ordinator hopes for
a good community response. "It
would be great if we had more
volunteers than we could use. We
need strong committees that
represent a cross-section of the
community, so participation is
vital," Mr. Chapman plans to
begin forming committees im-
mediately,
Chapman continues, "This is
your opportunity to become in-
volved in the educational plan-
ning for your community."

Wayne Carroll Sunday, with Rev.
Mary Mills in charge.
Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Davis visited
their daughter Heather in Lon-
don, Saturday, they also visited
Mr. & Mrs. Dare and Laura Lee,
at Woodstock and on Sunday had
lunch with Mr. & Mrs. Heber
Davis and dinner with Mrs.
George McFalls. Mrs. Hugh
Davis observed her birthday on
Sunday.
Mr. & Mrs. Muller and family
London spent Sunday with their
cousins Mr. & Mrs. Jim Barker
and Jean,
Rev. Mary Mills conducted
cottage service at the home of
Mr. & Mrs. Heber Davis Sunday
afternoon. Next Sunday the
service is planned for the home of
