Winners of the Junior Division
(Grades 5 and 6) of the Public
Speaking Contest at McGillivray
Central School Monday evening
were Catherine Lynn who placed
first and Cheryl Lynn, second
place winner,
Catherine's topic was Physical
Fitness, asking "Are we a
physically fit country" and
relating to our standing at the
Olympics. Cheryl was the only
Grade five contestant and spoke
on "Drug Abuse" as seen through
the eyes of a ten year old.

There were 14 tables in play at
the euchre party in the Com-
munity Centre Monday night with
Mr. & Mrs. Bob Heywood and Mr.
& Mrs. B.J. Rimmer in charge.
Prize winners were: ladies'
high score, Mrs. Russell
Schroeder; lone hands, Mrs. Bill
Dixon; low, Mrs. Evan Hodgins;
men's high, Frank Hicks; lone
hands, Evan Hodgins; low,
Russell Morley.
Capturing the prizes for the
lucky chairs were Mrs. Russell
Morley and Sandra Dodds. Mr. &
Mrs. Tom Kooy and Mr. & Mrs.
Ralph Lightfoot will convene the
next party.

Senior Citizens enjoyed an af-
ternoon of crokinole and cards in
the community centre Monday.

misfortune to fall and break her
wrist.

returned home from a two week
bus trip to Florida,

Clandeboye 4-H Homemaking
Clubs got under way last week.
The project is "Consider your
Clothes." At the first meeting the
members were taught how to
take measurements, choosing a
pattern and discussed lines for
illusion. At the second meeting,
colors and fabrics were discussed
also what is needed for their
sewing box,
Club No. I has six members.
The leader is Mrs. David Noonan
underwent major surgery.

Crediton I 4-H Club held their
first meeting this week. They call
themselves "Lazy Loungers".
The elected officers are:
president, Cheryl Wein; vice-
president, Vicki Collett;
secretary, Darlene Collett;
telephone girls, Brenda Mitchell,
Peggy Wilds; treasurer, Barb
Mitchell and press reporter,
Tammy Regier.
The next meeting will be held
March 21 at the Crediton Hall.

Clarence Carter refueled
nearly 300 snowmobiles at the
Check Point at Mooresville
during Whipper Billy Watson's
Snowarama for Timmy, an
event aimed at raising money for
crippled children.
The machines wound their way
along a 100 mile trail which
started at Hully Gully, through
Clinton, Seaforthi Hensall,
Whalens Corners, IVIooresville,
Mount Carmel, etc,, ending up
back in Hully Gully. They were
hoping to raise $60,000.
The UCW met at the home of
Mrs. Rupert Williams, Tuesday.
Mrs. Rea Neil took the devotional
part of the meeting. Mrs. Ethel
Donaldson gave her report of the
Middlesex Presbyterial held in
Wesley-Knox United Church in
London.
Thank you letters were read
from Rev, & Mrs, Madden for
gifts received also from Miss
Agnes Northgrave for the
flowers sent to her on her 90th
birthday. Group 2 was asked to be
in charge of the shower for Karen
Coughlin.
The UCW have a quilt in the
frames at Mrs. Rupert Williams
and are asking members and
friends to please come and help
quilt,
