Luck was certainly not riding
with the locals in the playoff
encounter. They hit two goal
posts, had one goal called back
and were continually thwarted by
a quick-handed Dale Wood in the
Aylmer nets.
Aylmer took full advantage of
the home ice and the rousing
support of over 200 hometown
fans to open up a 2-0 lead in the
first period before the Exeter
players could get untracked.
However the locals started
taking the play to Aylmer in the

third on a short handed effort
when Dennis Preszcator blocked
an Aylmer pass and fed a lead
pass to Paul Pooley.
Pooley cut in from the boards
and deftly side-stepped the lone
Aylmer defender to get a clear
registered a 5-1 win in the second
outing.
Exeter's entries will travel to
the Niagara Falls area com-
munity for the third game in each
series this Saturday. If a fourth
game is needed, it will be played
on Sunday.
The battle between the two Pee
Wee teams in Saturday's opening
game was one of the most ex-
citing played at Huron Park this
winter and both teams made
several end-to-end dashes to keep
the fans on the edge of their seats.
Pelham jumped into an early 2-
0 lead in the first period, but
Exeter rebounded to knot the
count at the end of the first stanza
on goals by Trevor Boyle and
Brian Blackburn. Jamie Chaffe
drew assists on both plays.
Exeter then shot into a 3-2 lead
in the second when Boyle scored
his second goal of the game on an
unassisted effort.
The visitors came back with
two goals mid-way through the
second and then Exeter tied- the
score at 4-4 when Tim Bean
dented the twine with the assists
going to Blackburn and Ted Oke,
There was no scoring in the
final period, but John Osgoode
and John Robinson were called
on to make several key saves in
the opposing nets.
Exeter captain Jim Siddall had
two chances to break the tie in the
final minutes of the third, his last
effort being the tie in the final
minutes of the third, his last
effort being a solo dash ' with
about 30 seconds remaining, but
he was thwarted by Robinson.
Pelham finally scored the
winner with two and a half
minutes left in the overtime
session with Exeter again
missing on a couple of valiant
efforts to get the equalizer.
In Sunday's game, Exeter
jumped into a 1-0 lead in the first
period on an unassisted goal by
Brian Blackburn, The visitors
knotted the count early in the
second frame and then took a 3-1
lead with two quick goals in the
first minute of the final stanza,
They upped the count to 4-1
with another marker with two
minutes remaining in the contest.
Captain Brian Gula paced the
Pelham attack with two goals. He
scored four in Saturday's tilt to
give him six of the nine the
visitors scored in the two
weekend games.
Bantams thumped
Pelham Bantam 2 scored five
consecutive goals in the second
period of Saturday's opening tilt
on their way to the 9-3 margin.
They opened up a 2-0 lead in the
first, but Exeter whittled that by
one early in the second when Rob
Dekoker scored on a play with
Don Beaver.
However, the roof fell in for the
locals as. Pelham came up with
their five goals later in the
middle stanza to pull the game
out of reach.
The teams traded goals in the
final 15 minutes with Don Beaver
and Steve MacDonald scoring for
Exeter. Drawing assists on the
plays were Bruce Shaw, Allan
Gais'er and Dave Newton.
In Sunday's match, Pelham
scored twice in the first, once in
the second and twice in the third
to build up a 5-0 lead before
Exeter finished the game scoring
with a tally mid-way in the final.
Don Beaver was the marksman
with the assist going to Rob
Dekoker.

comes with,
In the early minutes of the
overtime, Exeter shoved a puck
across the line in a goal-mouth
scramble, but unfortunately it
was a split second after the
referee had blown his whistle and
the score was disallowed.
With just under four minutes
remaining, Aylmer got a lucky
bounce at their own blueline to
get past an Exeter defender and
they finished off the play by
jabbing the puck behind Roger
O'Brien on a screened shot.
Exeter had a couple of good
shots in the final minutes of the
extra 10-minute period, but they
were just off the target or were
deflected at the last second by
Aylmer sticks.
The contest was a hard-hitting
affair with Aylmer being
assessed 14 penalties and Exeter
a total of 11.
The local players and team
officials expressed confidence
that they could even the series at
Huron Park this Friday,
especially if they can muster the
type of fan support that Aylmer
enjoyed in the opener. •

encounter for the past two weeks
after a comparatively easy series
with New Hamburg.
The Midgets eliminated New
Hamburg in. three straight
games, finishing off with a 0-3 win
in Huron Park, Friday.
New Hamburg opened the
scoring in the first minute of the
middle frame, but Exeter came
back with six straight goals and
then allowed the visitors a pair as
they coasted through the final
minutes of the contest.
Perry and Paul Pooley had two
goals each for the winners, while
singles came off the sticks of
Dennis Preszcator and Ran-
dy Fisher.
Brian Mercer had three assists,
while single points were added by
Dave Atthill, Preston Dearing,
Ron Bilcke and Dennis Presz-
ca tor. .
In a Shamrock playoff en-
counter, Saturday, Exeter posted
a 5-2 win over Ilderton.
Scoring in that one were
Preston Dearing, Dave Bogart,
Brad Taylor, Ron Bilcke and
Perry Pooley. Paul Pooley had
two assists, while singles went to
