Cecil Jardine. *Deborah Lynn Emery and John Douglas Hastings acted as sponsors. Jeannie Jones sang a lovely solo "Take Up They Cross" accompanied by organist Ray Koopman, Mr. Jardine's message "Being the Community of Christian Love" was a challenge to everyone, as Christian love is to be found in each person who has accepted God as Saviour and Guide. These persons will relate this love of Christ to' all those they meet so that it does not stay locked within themselves, Because God loves us we are able to share this love by caring for others. Members were reminded of their Observer subscriptions new or renewal to go to Alex Young by this Sunday. 'Pre-registration for Learning for Lent has been extended until tomorrow, Friday. The Macrame Class is filled unless there are sufficient for a second class. There are still openings in all other groups and we must have five more for "Women and the Law". Sympathy was extended to Vina Emery and Ann Kish in the loss of their sister and cards will be sent. Birthday wishes were extended to Edna Hodgins, Edith Murdy, Explorers talk about life choices Monday, February 7 the Lucan- Clandeboye Explorers talked about the choices we all make in our lives. The girls went into groups of two and read passages from Luke concerning choices Jesus made and then shared them. with the group. We also talked about re- cycling and each girl is to re cycle something at home. This Monday the girls had a Valentine's meeting with cookies and games. The girls practised re-cycling by using wall paper samples to make Valentines. Sunday, February 20 all youth groups in Lucan will • be honouring Baden-Powell, the founder of scouting and guiding in a special Church Service. All groups are asked to assemble in the basement of Lucan United Church at 11 o'clock before service. Next meeting of the explorers is on February 21 and new girls are always welcome. 8:30 Wednesday, March 9, ,.is the time and date of your next general meeting. Sunday was the busiest day with five mishaps occurring and Wednesday was next with four accidents reported. Tuesday at 8:05 a.m. Constable N.A. Campbell set $200 in damages when vehicles driven by Norman A. Besse and Arthur Charles Beer, both of London collided on Sideroad 16 in London township, just west of Highway 4, Vehicles driven by Joan Nebesnuik, RR 1, Granton and John Tindale, London, were in collision. on Highway 23, just north of ,Highway 7 at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. Constable J.A. Wilson listed damages at $800. At 2:15 p.m. the same day two parked cars were damaged on Main Street in Ailsa Craig when they were struck by a bulldozer blade, The machine was being transported on a truck when the blade struck one vehicle and pushed it into the other. The parked cars were owned by Annie Mae Windsor, RR 3, Ailsa Craig and Nora Ross, RR 1, Ailsa Craig, The truck driver was James Robinson, RR 3 Ailsa Craig. Total damage was set at $1,300 by Constable G. N. Wilcox, Wednesday evening at 5:05 p.m. vehciles driven by Ruth Ilene Matheson, St. Marys and Anne Roobroeck, RR 2, Gadshill were in collision on County road 27, south of Highway 7 in West Nissouri township. Constable B.D. Munro estimated damaes at $350. At 11:35 a.m. the same day a vehicle driven by Muriel Miller, Seaforth, skidded into a huge snow bank on Highway 4, south of Highway 7. Constable Hodgins listed damages at $1,500. Two accidents occurred at the same time at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. A vehicle driven by James Van- derlip, London, collided with a parked vehicle owned by Jack Pitcher, Bluevale while it was Two breakins investigated Two breakins were in- vestigated this week by officers of the Ontario Provincial Pollee detachment at Lucan. Thursday, the home of Keith Parkinson in London township was broken into and cash totalling $177 was taken. Con- stable B. D. Munro is in- vestigating. Early Tuesday morning, thieves entered the Arva Motors office in Arva by breaking a window and about $40 in cash was reported missing. Constable G. N. Constable Craig listed damages at $1,525, Constable Hodgins estimated damages at $1,600 at 2:30 p.m, Monday when vehicles driven by Carl Jefferies, RR 1, Lucan and Conrad Decort, RR 1, Centralia collided on Concession 4 in Biddulph township, near County road 47. Vehicles driven by Charles Tabor and Renee Impanis, both of RR 3, Thorndale were in collis ion at 4:45 p.m. Monday on Concession 5-6 at 20-21 sideroad in West Nissouri township. Con- stable Vance listed damages at $400. John Rosser of Ailsa Craig suffered minor injuries at 4.15 Wednesday when the vehicle he was driving was in collision with one driven by Wayne R. Mitchell, also of Ailsa Craig, The mishap occurred on Highway 7, east of Ailsa Craig and Constable D. R. Vance listed damages at $3,600. A vehicle driven by Wayne Appleman, RR 1, Lucan rolled over on sideroad 20-21 in Bid- dulph township Wednesday at 5.05 p,m. when it encountered a large snow bank, Constable B. D. Munro set damages at $600. Constable Munro listed damages at $3,500 when vehicles driven by Mervyn Cannon, RR 2, Denfield and Sylvia Reinhard collided on Highway 4 at the junction of Concession 15-16 in London township at 7.20 p.m. Wednesday. At 4.35 p.m. Thursday on County road 50 near the Mid- dlesex-Perth line, vehicles driven by William Westman, RR 3, Granton and Shirley Droste, St. Marys collided. Constable D. R, Vance listed damages at $350, Alton Wallis, RR 1, Granton suffered minor cuts when the vehicle he was driving was in collision with a vehicle driven by- Clarence Hardy, Lucan. County road 47 a mile north of Highway 4 in Biddulph was the scene of the mishap. Constable W. T. Hodgins set damages at $2,500. Damages were set at $3,000 by Constable James Craig at 9.35 a.m. Sunday when vehicles driven by Ross Clarke, London and Richard Ball, Mount Brydges collided on Highway 7, near the CNR crossing in' McGillivray township. Gordon Hotson, Cecil Robb and Harold Cobleigh. Cookies and doughnuts were provided by Stewart Munro and served by Maude Hodgins and Oney McFalls. Prize winners were lady's high, Merna O'Neil; lady's low, Rachel Tuke; man's high, Helen Thompson; man's low, Mary Hodgson, both playing men's cards. Come on men—where are you? Tip Top Tailors consider clothes The TIP TOP Tailors Lucan 4- H club had their first meeting on "Consider Your Clothes", Wednesday, It was held at Mrs. Mary De Brouwer's home, At this meeting the group elected president Louise Van- derloo, Vice Pres, Elizabeth Morgan, Press Reporter Teresa Shumka. The Club name was also selected. Tea and cake were served at the end of the meeting. Elect officers for 4-H club The first and second meetings of Lucan No. 3 4-H club were held on February 12 at the home of the leader Mrs. Gerald Straatman, assisted by Mrs. Donald O'Neil. Discussed during the meetings were lines to create illusions and the difference that warm and cool colours bring, The leaders chose three members to be models and draped various coloured material over them to see what colours suited these individuals best. The officers elected were as follows: president, Christine ,Geertsen; vice-president, Nancy '114011; secjetaries, Penny' Hodgins and Michelle Dolan and press representative Annett Straatman. Members are requested .to bring their blouse pattern, the material and notions for the roll call at the next meeting, which will be held at Mrs. Straatman's on Saturday, February 26, at 10 p.m. Refreshments were served.
