After the morning church
service on Sunday some 30 people
sat down to a bountiful meal.
Rev. Barry Robinson then opened
the meeting with prayer. Mrs.
Murray Dawson was appointed
secretary for the meeting, The
financial report was well
received.
The outgoing stewards are
Edwin Miller and Paul
Passmore. The new ones elected
are Ted Kernick and Glen
Lamport, The other four are
Robert Hume, David Passmore,
Arnold Cann and William Rohde.
Ross Hodgert was elected to
the session in place of William
Snow who has moved to Exeter.
The other members of session are
Mrs. Donald Bray, Barry Jef-
fery, Mrs. Glenn Jeffery, John
Pym, Mrs. Glen Stewart.
Edwin Miller was elected to the
Board of Trustees in place of the
late William , Cann. The other
trustees are Lloyd Ballantyne,
Donald Bray and Jack Stewart.
United Church Women
The postponed meeting of the
United Church Women was held
Monday evening with 20 ladies
present. Mrs. Glen Stewart
opened the business part of the
meeting,
Roll call, minutes,
correspondence, treasurers
report were given. Mrs, Mac
Hodgert read a , lengthy letter
from our foster child in India
Ram Biswanath.
The new counter tops, drawers,
table tops and new sink are all
completed. It was decided to
have our annual strawberry
supper in June,
It was decided to cater to the
curling banquet at Kirkton-
Woodharn Community Centre,
April 7.
Mrs. Glen Stewart gave a
report of the Huron-Perth
Presbyterial United Church
Women which was held at
Seaforth recently.
Mrs. Bill Rohde was in charge
of the Worship Service which
opened with God is greater than
the pressures. We sang the hymn
The Lord's My Shepherd, The
Theme for the meeting was "No
Fear." Mrs. Rohde gave the
meditation on fear.
Mrs. Glen Jeffery gave a talk
on "Fear Not", which is men-
tioned 365 times in the Bible, Mrs.
Edwin Miller and Mrs. George
Kellett assisted with the Scrip-
ture Readings. The offering was
received and Mrs. Rohde gave
the Offertory Prayer.
Members sang ."How Firm A
Foundation." Mrs. Rohde closed
the meeting with prayer. A
Valentine Greetings contest was
& Mrs. Bob Heywood will be in
charge of the next party.
Mr. & Mrs, Don Pickering and
girls, Hyde Park, Miss Marikay
held with all names from the
Bible with Mrs. Barry Robinson
having the most correct.
A delicious lunch of cake,
icecream and tea were served by
the hostess Mrs. Howard Cun-
nington and Group U under the
leadership of Mrs. Barry Miller.

At time of writing Donald Bray
is a patient in University
Hospital, London. We hope he will
be home shortly and in his usual
good health.

Kirkton 4-H
girls meet

KIRKTON
Because of the recent snow
storm, the Kirkton No. 5 4-H club
was postponed for a week.
The second meeting was held
February 8 and hosted by Lana
Marshall.
Deb Schaeffer opened the
meeting by leading in the 4-H
pledge followed by the minutes of
the last meeting being lead by
Lana Marshall. The girls decided
on their club name as "Meater
Maids".
Mrs. Urquhart and Mrs.
Payne gave a lesson on the
topics of meat inspection,
grading meats, types of ten-
derizing, moist heat methods
(braise, pot roast and simmer),
how to stew, making gravy, and
storage of meat.
The dry heat methods of
cooking by roasting was given by
Deb Siddall, by broiling; was told
by Janice Burgin, and by panfry;
was explained by Patty Willis.

Hodgins and Mr. Jim Files,
London, were Sunday guests with
Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins. The
occasion was in celebraion of Mr.
& Mrs, Pickering's 15th wedding

The Sunday School and church
services were resumed in the
United Church on Sunday
following two Sundays of can-
celled services,
Senior Citizens met in the
Community Centre on Monday
for an afternoon of crokinole and
cards followed by lunch. Those
attending were presented with a
box of candy to mark Valentine's
Day. This was made possible
through the courtesy of Margaret
Cook, manager of the G and G
Discount store in Exeter.
Euchre party
Despite the uncertainty of the
weather conditions there were
nine tables at play for the
second euchre party of this year
in the Community Centre on
Monday night.
