Mentally Retarded and Miss
Anne McCrea student of
Psychology at Western
University, and having spent
some time in Africa with
C.U.S.O.
The afternoon guest speaker
was Dr, James Seunarine who
spoke on the brotherhood of man
and entitled his talk "Let's
Serve."
4-H start new club
The first meeting of the
Granton 4-H Club "Consider Your
Clothes" was held at the home of
leader Mrs, Robt Garrett on
Thursday, February 10 at 7 p.m.
The meeting opened with the 4-H
Pledge followed by introductions,
and a welcome to five new
members.
The business session began
with the nominations for officers,
the following members were
elected, Pres, Brenda Tomlin,
Vice Pres. Dianne Garrett, it was
decided to have a different
secretary for each meeting, who
would also act as Press Reporter.
Members pamphlets were
distributed by the leaders Mrs,
Micheal O'Shea and Mrs. Robt
Garrett, also the requirements
for this course were read over,
which is a sewing club.
Mrs. O'Shea discussed the
record books with the girls,
followed by a talk by Mrs.
Garrett on Illusions in the
dominant line of clothes, and
Mrs. O'Shea explained to the
members about choosing a
pattern, both leaders demon-
strated how to take
measurements. The meeting
closed after the girls formed
couples and took each others
measurements,
The second meeting took place
at the home of Mrs. O'Shea on
Saturday, opening with the 4-H
Pledge followed by the Roll Call
which was answered by a
"Picture traced or clipped of a
garment or ensemble that is a
attractive to me."
Joanne Lansbergen has recently
received a Master of Science
degree from the University of
Guelph. A former student of
South Huron District High School,
she received her Bachelor of
Science from the University of
Guelph in 1974. Ms. Lansbergen
is the daughter, of William and
Christine Lansbergen, Zurich, On-
tario.

At the United Church Rev.
Elwood Morden conducted the
Sunday morning service which
twice had to be cancelled owing
to the winter weather conditions.
Sunday School pupils receiving
attendance awards were Leanne,
Susanne, Todd, Jody and Wendy
Sleeper. 1st pin, Becky Bryan;
2nd pin, Ann Harrett, 4th pin,
Allison Brown and Linda Bryan
1st Bar.
At the St. Thomas Anglican
Church Rev. Mary Mills con-
ducted a short prayer service on
Sunday at 9.30 a,m. Miss Marion
and Miss Helen Herbert took the
children downstairs for Sunday
School. The remainder of the
time was devoted to a Vestry
meeting.
Unit 4 U.C.W. braved the
elements on Wednesday evening
February 9, and met at, the home
of Mrs. Henry Wissell, this
meeting was postponed from the
previous week, other units just
cancelled theirs.
Mrs. Nelson Tate presided and
opened the meeting with a hymn
followed by the meditation,
Psalm 730 repeated in unison and
prayer. The World Day of Prayer
was announced for Friday,
March 4 at the United Church.
The program was convened by
Mrs. Reg Crawford and Mrs. A,
Crockett, Mrs. Crawford
presented a paper on God's Good
Faith,
Mrs. Floyd Dykes and Mrs.
Terry Johnson assisted the
hostess to serve lunch.
Friendly neighbors
There was a good attendance of
Friendly Neighbors. Wednesday
afternoon. I guess people were
glad of a change' of scene after
being confined at home for so
long. Cards, crockinole, shuf-
fleboard and pool were enjoyed
and later a social time over
refreshments.

birthday party for Mrs. Eaton's
mother Mrs. Leonard at their

each girl was asked to point
out the line and explain why it
was attractive for her. A name
for the club was discussed, but a
decision was not made at the
time,
Leader Mrs. Garrett explained
the colour wheel with the
members and talked about colour
schemes, such as complementary
colours, Monochramatic, and
Analogous colours, Mrs. Garrett
then used paints to show tints and
shades also discussed warm and
cool shades,
Mrs. O'Shead demonstrated
how different colours looked
better on different people by
placing towels around their
necks, also showed her wardrobe
and talked about the type of
clothes that could be made to add
to it. Leader Mrs. Garrett
mentions what materials should
be bought and what type of
pattern should be used on the
material also what the girls
needed for their sewing box.
The members were shown how
to straighten their material, and
told that it and the zipper should
be preshrunk by Mrs. O'Shea.
The girls then divided into groups
and using the towels found out
what colours suited them. The
3rd meeting will be held
February 19 at 4.30 p.m. at the
home of leader Mrs. Garrett,

Sincere sympathy is extended
to the family of the late Mrs.
Douglas (Jean) Tuttle who
passed away at St. Mary's
Memorial Hospital February 11,
1977 in her 66th year. The late
Mrs. Tuttle was the former Jean
Douglas.
We are happy to report that
Mrs. Martin (Carrie) Van-
derminnen is now home from
hospital, we hope she continues to
improve.
Mr. & Mrs. Charles Hayden,
Mr. & Mrs. Cliff Cook and Mr. &
Mrs. Harold Mills have returned
home from a vacation in the
Barbados.
Mr. & Mrs. Jim Marshall of
Guelph were Sunday visitors of
Mrs. Marshall's parents Mr. &
Mrs. Harold (Pete) Wallis prior
to the Wallis's leaving for Boco
Raton Florida Tuesday. Pete will
be attending a clinic, where he
hopes to benefit from treatments
of a rare disease, this is a motor
nerve disorder known as
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
