Mr, & Mrs, Alex McGregor are holidaying in Florida. Other visitors in the Sunny South were Mr. & Mrs. G. Johnson, Mr, & Mrs. Hank Bennendyk. Mr. & Mrs. Orville Workman have returned from a pleasant holiday, Robert Kinsman has been hospitalized with a back injury. Friday evening the members of Kippen and Brucefield had a social evening togeher when they enjoyed euchre, cribbage and crokinole. Winner for the men at euchre was Emerson Kyle and for the ladies, Mrs, Edgar McBride, Lunch was served. Tuesday the U,C.W. of St. Andrews Church, Kippen, met with 20 members present. Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs. Ken McLellan and Mrs. Norman Dickert. Mrs. Lloyd Cooper gave the worship and Sandra Turner gave the topic which was based on India, Myra Lovell and Shirley Bond gave a humorous skit on "Hairstyling". By JOY SCHEIFELE AILSA CRAIG Kenneth L. Hayes, Th. B. of London accepted the call of the Ailsa Craig, Parkhill arid Den- field Baptist Church as full time pastor last month. "I am very much • looking forwardo to moving to Ailsa Craig sometime in May" reported Mr. Hayes. , Born in London, Ontario, Pastor Hayes first attended the London Bible Institute before moving to Louisville, Ky. to study theology at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1948. Two years later he graduated with a Th. B, degree. In 1953 he married the former Jean Cams of London, and together they moved to Nash- ville, Tenn. while Ken was em- ployed by Broadman Press, a publishing arm of the Southern Baptist Convention. While working with Broadman Press, he settled in Southern -III., Norern Alabama and Florida before coming back to Canada in 1967. Working as manager of the Evangical Publishers bookstore in Toronto for three years, the family decided to return to London in 1970. "At that point Scripture Press took over E. The weather was pretty well around the 78 degree Fahrenheit, They did however visit places where the oranges were frozen, Mr, & Mrs. Terry Gibson, Hensall, flew down later and returned home with them, Three hours after Terry and his wife left London the airport was closed due to the storm and they landed in Florida in beautiful weather. Flowers in Zion Lutheran Church, Sunday, were placed by the family of the late Lloyd Miller, Mrs, Lloyd Willert is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, having suffered a heart attack. Mrs Syd Baker returned home from South Huron Hospital, Exeter, Monday. Mr. & Mrs. Percy Bodaly celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary Sunday, January 23, by attending church in Exeter and dining with friends from the congregation. Several called to congratulate them. UCW Meets The February meeting of Calvary United Church Women was a Valentine meeting, The theme was "Love", Everyone received a heart shaped Valentine with the printed message "Jesus Loves Me," Standing in a circle, they sang "Circle of Love Goes Round". Responsive reading was led by Mrs. Don Gaiser, Scripture 1 Corrinthians 12 was given by Mrs. Earl Guenther. Mrs. Clayton Merner gave a humorous reading "The Pout House", Mrs. Lloyd Guenther assisted, Zion Women The quarterly meeting of Zion Lutheran Women's Missionary League was held Tuesday, February 8, with the president, Mrs. Delmar Millar presiding. Pastor Mayo Mellecke showed the filmstrip "Project Philip". The Spring Rally date and place will be announced later. There was some discussion on preserving the Records of the U.C.W. at the archives at the United Church House, Toronto. The U.C.W. Conference will be held in Sarnia April 4 and 5 with some planning to attend. Mrs. Boyle and Mrs. Gaiser gave an interesting report on the Annual meeting they attended at Northside United Church, Seaforth. Ladies Aid The February meeting of Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid was held Wednesday, with the president, Mrs. Lorne Genttner opening with a Hymn followed by scripture reading and prayer by Pastor Mellecke. He also took for the topic the church construction and the church year. From Advent to Pentecost it is God's action towards us. The remainder is the Christian Life or our response to Him. Mrs. Genttner dealt with the business. Twenty-two members were present. The Altar Guild reported 15 calls, one phone call and three treats. The new Guild is Mrs. Esther Salmon and Mrs. Lorne Genttner. An invitaion to attend the World Day of Prayer at Calvary United Church was read.
