E. SUMMERS GRANTON Your correspondent regrets that the Granton news was missing from last week's T-A, but there was no way I could get my write up to Lucan where it is usually picked up. There was no mail either, but all there was to report concerned the weather, and most everyone north of London was going through the same experience. As I gaze out of my window, King Street looks like a miniature Alpine range. Our local store ran out of milk and bread, while a farmer at the north end of Main GEORGE EIZENGA LTD. Street had gallons of milk that could not be picked up, and would have gladly given it where needed, but had no way of taking it out, not even with a horse which he had in the barn. Sometimes it takes a situation such as we have come through this past week to realize how necessary it is for people in a small community to work together for the good of all. Thanks to all those who took stranded motorists into their homes giving them a haven from the storm, also to the neighbors who looked after the seniors in the village seeing that they had groceries, etc. A ViCtirrt of the storm Mrs. Martin (Corrie) Van- derminnen was knocked down by a car as she was walking along the Graliton road in the height of the snow storm Friday. She was struck by a car driven by Mrs. Malcolm Kay. The visibility was almost zero at the time and a fuel truck that was following piled into the back end of the Kay vehicle. Mrs. Vanderminnen was taken to University Hospital, London by ambulance with injuries to her face and leg. She is now recovering after plastic surgery and an operation on her knee. We wish her a speedy recovery, and hope that she will soon be home. Happy Gang meet The "Happy Gang" met in the United Church basement for their first meeting in 1977,January 26. Mrs, Elmer Summers presided for this meeting and opened with a reading entitled "Youth is not a time of life, it is a State of Mind" followed by a chapter from the Upper Room. Business discussed was a decision to have a different member preside at each meeting until someone was willing to accept the presidency.
