An area native is being
honoured in the near future as
one of the outstanding residents
of Montpelier, Ohio.
Scheduled events in December
and January to honour Miss Ada
I. Mitchell and other residents of
Montpelier was postponed until
spring because of extreme cold
weather.
The following article was
printed recently in a Montpelier
newspaper.
Miss Ada I, Mitchell came to
Montpelier in March of 1957 to
become administrator of WCGH.
She was the fourth administrator
since the hospital opened in June
1952. Donald Walchenback was
the administrator at the opening
in 1953, and he was succeeded by
Richard Athey and in 1955 Justin
Green replaced Mr. Athey.
She was the first woman ad-
ministrator of the hospital and at
this time is the only woman

ministrator Midland Hospital,
Midland, Michigan. She was
administrator of the J.'M. Case
Hospital in Delaware, Ohio, for
the 11 years before she came to
Montpelier.
Miss Mitchell was highly
recommended in the field of
hospital administration and has
proved in the almost 20 years of
service to us, to be extremely
capable.
She has been very active in the
Presbyterian Church in Mont-
pelier, serving as a trustee and on
the board from 1965 to 1971. Miss
Mitchell was on the building
committee when the new church
was erected, served on the organ
committee in 1974 and 1975 and is
now an elder in the church.
Ada Mitchell is the daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Norman
Mitchell, Centralia and a sister of
Mrs Kenneth Hodgins, Cen-
tralia.
