Huron Park minor hockey
teams won one of six Shamrock
league games played this week.
The only victory came when
the bantams outscored St, Marys
6-3. In two other contests, St.
Marys pee wees won 12-1 and the
midgets by a score of 10-1.
Huron Park clubs were also on
the short end of the score in a
tripleheader against Dorchester.
The pee wees score was 2-1, the
Huron Park bantams were edged
3-2 and the midget score was 6-0
for Dorchester.
Ralph Wells led the Huron Park
bantam victory over St. Marys
with a two goal performance.
Both goals came on unassisted
efforts. Don Stuckless also scored
on a solo dash.
The other three Huron Park
goals were fired by Randy Insley,
Rich Lather and Steve Gibbs.
Assists were picked up by Harold
Borden and Rich Lather.
The only Huron Park pee wee
score against St. Marys was
registerd by Dennis Johnston on
a pass from Terry Hodgins.
Benjie Hillman scored on a
pass from Bob Lawrence to take
care of the Huron Park midget
scoring against St. Marys.
Steve O'Neil scored on an
unassisted effort to take care of
the Huron Park pee wee scoring
against Dorchester.
Harold Borden and Randy
Insley were the Huron Park goal
getters in the bantam loss to
Dorchester. Assists were
provided by Mike Gallagher and
Don Stuckless,
In regular house league play
over the weekend, both games
ended in shutouts. The Bruins
blanked the Canadiens 5-0 and the
Canadiens in turn stopped the
Leafs 1-0.
Todd Lewis with a four goal
effort paced the Bruins in their 5-
0 romp. Gary Harvey fired the
other successful shot and added
one assist along with John
Hannah. David Rook was in goal
for the winners and chalked up

Huron County's Largest
Ford Dealer
afternoon in Stratford they
dropped a close 5-4 decision to the
Perths in overtime.
The London Kings lead' the
Continental standings with 95
points, nine more than the second
place Stratford Perths. The
Preston Jesters are third with 34
points and the Jets hold down
fourth spot with 33 points.
The Jets were in Port Stanley
last night Wednesday to meet the
Dynamos and then they will be at
home for two straight games.
Friday night the Preston
Jesters will visit the Ilderton
arena with game time set for 8:15
p,rn • and the Durham Huskies
will be in for a Sunday afternoon
contest slated to get underway
at 2 p.m.
Despite Sunday's 5-4 loss to
Stratford Jets manager-coach

played well. He added, "We lost

Chipchase fell into the boards
and injured his back, X-rays at
Stratford hospital proved
negative but he was unable to go
to work Monday.
Bill White was cut for seven
stitches in the first period and
was also taken to hospital. Late in
the game Jamie Robb was struck
in the face with the puck.
Each team scored one goal in
each of the first two periods and
then the Jets surged ahead 4-2 by
the midway mark of the third
period only to have the Perths
score twice in the last 10 minutes
and force overtime.
Jacques Cousineau was the
first period marksman for the
Jets as he completed a passing
play with Steve Proctor and Scott
Graham wjth only one second
left. Jerry Harrigan scored •for
Stratford.
Scoring in the middle frame
was confined to the first two
minutes. Terry Warboys hit for
the Perths and Randy Roth
replied for the Jets on a pass
from Ed Parkinson.
Two three-way combinations
early in the third period put the
Jets ahead temporarily. Ken
McCutcheon scored from Scott
Graham and Bill Bannerman and
Ed Parkinson finished off a play
with Randy Roth and Rick
Fifield.
Jim Betts and Randy Stubel
were the Perths scorers late in
the period to set the stage for
John St. Cyr's winning goal at
4:05 of sudden-death overtime.
Five unanswered goals in the
third period allowed the Wood-
stock Royals to post Friday's 10-3
won over the L-I club.
The first Jets score came from
the stick of defenceman Barry
Baynham on passes from Jamie
and Ed Robb and Ed Parkinson
hit the mark with passing help
from Steve Proctor.
The final score came from the
stick of Jack Chipchase with
assists going to Rick Fifield and
. Ed Parkinson.
Bantams held
to 34 draw
The Exeter bantams were held
to a 3-3 tie by Strathroy in
Shamrock minor league play
Sunday. The game was played at
the Huron Park arena.
After Strathroy took a, one goal
lead in the 'first period, the
Exeter club came roaring back
with a second period score and
two more in the first eight
minutes of the third period.
Strathroy was able to battle
back and hit the mark with two
shots in the final minute and 35
seconds and were able to settle
for the draw.
The first period Exeter score
came from the stick of David L.
Bell on a three-way combination
with Wayne Parsons and captain
Doug Brooks.
The go-ahead Exeter marker
was fired by Wayne Parsons on a
pass from Doug Brooks. Wayne
Parsons also notched the third
Exeter goal.. This time the pass
was provided by Jeff Fuller.

The Exeter atom II squad
played four games this week and
came out with an unblemished
record—four losses.
They dropped two games to
Zurich by scores of 6-2 and 7-3,
were stopped 5-0 by Lucan and
ended the week with a 5-2 loss to
Ilderton on Sunday.
In the opening tilt in Zurich,
Wednesday, Exeter watched
their hosts score five goals before
they found the mark for two of
their own in the third period.
Steve Gould and Sean
Whiteford scored for Exeter, with
the assists going to Scott Lovie
and Gary MacDonald.
Dean Armstrong and Rick
Keupfer each scored three to look
after the Zurich attack.
In Friday's return engagement
at Huron Park, Zurich again
jumped into a big lead, scoring
four goals in the first period
before Exeter came back with
three to make the contest close.
However, Zurich scored three
more in the second to cap the win.
Sean Whiteford notched two of
the Exeter tallies and Terry
Zachar was credited with the
other. Picking up assists on the
plays were Brett Batten and Scott
Lovie.
Dean Armstrong had four of
Zurich's goals, while Rick
Kuepfer, Darcy Martin and Jeff
Laporte added singles.
Lucan hosted the Exeter squad
in a Shamrock tilt in Hensall,
Saturday and the two teams
played a scoreless tie in the first
period before Lucan found the
range to notch three in the second
and two in the third.
Jeff Shipley paced the Lucan
attack with three goals, while
Brent Bannerman and Jess
Crawford added singles.
Despite the busy schedule, the
Exeter squad played their best
Local horses
are winners
Two area harness race horses
were successful in recent outings
at the Meadowlands track in East
Rutherford, New Jersey.
Saturday at the New Jersey
oval, PatChes Almahurst owned
by Bill Ellerington' and Bob
Pooley was first across the finish
line.
Thursday, Missile Almahurst,
owned jointly by Bill Ellerington
and Lee Paul won at the same
track. Both the four year-old
mare and three year-old colt are
sired by High Ideal.
They were driven to victory by
Greg Wright who is having a very
successful meet at Meadowlands.

Pfaff Electric edged Algoma Tire
3-2. ,
Ed Grenier with a hat trick
performance was best for Les
Pines in Tuesday's 12-0 romp.
Next in line with two goals apiece
were Pete Anderson, Pete Glover
and Gary Koehler, Adding single
scores were Ron Moore, Gary
Sararas and Doug Ferguson,

Dart Sharks
back in darts
One of the charter members of
the Exeter Legion mixed dart
league, the Dart Sharks are back
in action and bring the number of
teams to the necessary
maximum of 16.
The Sassenachs continue to
lead the league standings with 63
points. The Doublers are second
with 57 points and the DR's and
Flying Highs are deadlocked for
third spot with 54 points apiece.
The Robins are fifth with 52
points followed by the Winkers,
Itchy Niters, Outlaws, Scotties
and Last Chance to round out the
top 10.
