Discuss Ailsa Craig growth
Delicious
In order to insure the best
direction of growth for the future
development of Ailsa Craig, the
Ailsa .Craig Business Association
recently invited members of
Village Council and the Village
Planning Board to attend its last
meeting. Members of the three
groups met together, Thur-
sday,Several facts became ap-
parent throughout the discussion.
At this point Ailsa Craig is not
large enough to attract many new
service industries to the down-
town area,
However, on the other hand,
while residential growth over the
next few ,years should be steady,
!it probably not be dramatic
in spite of several subdivision
plans being approved, Significant
industrial growth will be unlikely
until a sewage system is in-
stalled.
A sewage system depends on
the funds being available from
the provincial government. Such
funds are not expected to be
available until 1979.
It was acknowledged that very

little land is currently available
for industrial expansion within
the village boundaries. The
possibility of annexation is small
until all available land is in use,
The Village Planning Board
indicated one of its present
priorities is the development of a
municipal parking area in the
heart of the village. While the
need is apparent, the problem of
locating suitable space is still
under discussion.
A prepared handbook listing
the services and businesses in
Ailsa Craig was shown to all
present, which will be distributed

through the Ailsa Craig Business
Association to all newcomers into
the village. The members
decided to print additional
revised copies for other village
residents.
It was also revealed that a
dentist is considering
establishing a practice within the
village, Every effort is being
made to provide assistance in
locating suitable office space.
