The demand for elec-
tricity in Ontario reaches
its peak early in the evening
on cold winter weekdays.
Between 4 and 7,
everyone's asking for elec-
tricity. Many factories, stores
and offices are still open.
Street lights are on.The kids
are home from school, parents
home from work, evening
meals are being prepared. And
the heating system has to
work harder. It all adds up.
Demands for electric-
ity have been increasing at a
pace that can no longer be
met. The rate of growth must
be reduced.
You can help by avoid-
ing'the big jobs like baking,
washing and drying between
4 and 7, Make sure that unused
lights, TVs and appliances are
off. Take it easy on the hot
water.

therefore time to make amends.
I was shocked and saddened
when I heard that Father
Mooney, the Priest residing over
the Mt. Carmel Parish took
seriously ill a few weeks ago, but
he is doing well and here's hoping
that his recovery is swift, and
apparently, the doctors have
perscribed rest and quiet as the
best medicine for Father Mooney
at this time.
Also enduring confinement in a
hospital is Mrs. Catherine
Morrissey of our village, who is
recovering in Strathroy Hospital
after having suffered a fall
outside of her home about a
month ago. Wishes for a speedy
recovery are extended as well to
Mrs. Morrissey from all of us in
Mt. Carmel.
Mt. Carmel was the place on
which many members of my
family converged, on this past
Friday, January 14. The occasion
of our congregation was indeed a
special one as my cousin, Joseph,
the sdn of Norman and Donna

Church news
At the United Church Rev.
Elwood Morden was in charge of
the morning worship and took his
sermon from the fifth chapter of
Romans and entitled his message
"If Winter Comes?" likening,
disappointment and unhappiness
to winter in our lives.
Everyone faces the winter of
this kind said Rev. Morden even
Jesus. Winter comes because we
are not close enough to the sun's
rays. Worshiping something
other than God, such as money or
earthly possessions can bring
winier to us.
As Christians we are called to
be the messengers of hope, we
can bring the hope of God's
kingdom, love turns winter to
spring and melts the coldness in
our hearts.
At St. Thomas Anglican Church
Rev. Mary Mills conducted the
morning prayer and officiated at
the Service of Holy Communion
assisted by Miss Marion Herbert,
Rev. Mills took her sermon
from the Gospel of St. John
chapter 2:1-12, this being the
Gospel story of the Wedding of
Cana, as it effected the life of our
Lord Jesus Christ, through Faith
and Obedience, the water was
turned into wine, this was the
first of the signs given by Jesus to
let his glory be seen, also his
disciples belief in Him, this shows
how all our works should be done,
in Faith, said Rev. Mills.
