It was the second time the locals had whipped the county town squad. Exeter scored the first six goals in Saturday's game and coasted through the final period when Goderich picked up both their tallies. The game was less than a minute old when John Kernick picked up a pass from Tom Coates and skated in all alone. He was pulled down from behind by a Goderich player, but Kernick still managed to get his stick on the puck and slid it into an unguarded corner. Bill Glover teamed up with Dave Shaw for Exeter's second goal and Scott Pincombe ended the first period scoring when he finished off a play with Coates.
