in Saturday victory
Steve Riddell 'scored the only
goal of the second period when he
capped a three-way passing play
with Mike Murray and Scott
Batten,
In the third, Mike Clark and
Dave Shaw teamed up on iden-
tical plays to score goals. They
were both involved in two-on-one
plays in which the goalie made
the initial stop on the first play,
Clark banged in Shaw's rebound
and on the other play, Shaw found
the range on Clark's rebound.
One feature of the game was a
penalty shot awarded to Exeter
when a defender grabbed the
puck inside the goal crease. Tom
Coates tried the shot, but was
beaten by the goalie,

In an exhibition contest in
Vanastra, Saturday, the Exeter
pee wees skated to a convincing
6-2 victory over Goderich. It was
the second time the locals had
whipped the county town squad.
Exeter scored the first six
goals in Saturday's game and
coasted through the final period
when Goderich picked up both
their tallies.
The game was less than a
minute old when John Kernick
picked up a pass from Tom
Coates and skated in all alone. He
was pulled down from behind by
a Goderich player, but Kernick
still managed to get his stick on
the puck and slid it into an
unguarded corner.
Bill Glover teamed up with
Dave Shaw for Exeter's second
goal and Scott Pincombe ended
the first period scoring when he
finished off a play with Coates.

Scores lower
in Rec league
In contrast to recent weeks,
scores of two of three Exeter and
district Rec hockey league games
played this week were low.
Tuesday night at the Hensall
arena, MacLean-Passmore
edged the Guess Who 4-1 and
Algoma Tire and Les Pines
battled to a 3-3 tie. In the only
high scoring contest Algoma Tire
walloped Pfaff Electric 11-4,
Sunday.
Bob MacDonald. Gary Par-
sons, Pete McFalls and Dale
Skinner each scored two goals to
lead the Algoma Tire scoring,
Sunday night. Adding single
goals were Jack Mayer, Paul
Kerslake and Rudy Damjinov.
Rick Oliver . fired two suc-
cessful shots and Jim Pfaff and
Don Heywood added singles to
take care of the Pfaff Electric
scoring.
Mike Elford with a two goal
effort was best for MacLean-
Passmore. Getting one goal
apiece were Dennis Passmore
and Doug Jeffrey.
The lone marker for the Guess
Who came from the stick of John
Hayman.
Toni MacDonald with two goals
was best for Algoma Tire in
Tuesday's draw. Scoring the odd
counter was Ed Kerslake.
Scoring in single fashion for Les
Pines were Ron Ferguson, Larry
Bourne and Gary Sararas.
Algoma Tire is in first place in
the league 'standings with 16
points. Pfaff Electric is second
with 12 points and MacLean
Passmore is third with 10 points.
Les Pines is fourth with four
points and Guess Who is in the
cellar with two points.
Three points for HP
In five scheduled Shamrock
minor hockey league games this
week teams from Huron Park
gained one victory and a tie.
The only win came in the
bantam division with a 4-2
decision over the Exeter B club.
Ralph Wells was the top scorer
for the bantams with three goals
and all on unassisted efforts:
Tom Dinney hit the mark on
passes from Mike Gallagher and
Tony Underhill and for the other
Huron Park goal,
Bruce Shaw converted a pass
from Greg Prout and Don Beaver
counted on a solo dash to account
for the Exeter scoring.
In midget play, the Strathroy
Blazers thumped Huron Park 9-2.
Blair Hearn and Tim Lawrence
were the Huron Park scorers
with assists going to Paul
Theander, Blair Hearn and Tim
Smith.
Ralph Wells scored the lone
Huron Park bantam goal in a 9-1
loss to Strathroy.
The Huron Park and Dor-
chester bantams played to a 2-2
draw. Ralph Wells unassisted
and Tony Underhill on a pass
from Doug House took care of the
Huron Park scoring.
The Huron. Park pee wees
were blanked 7-0 by Strathroy.
Atoms gain even split
The Exeter atom I squad split a
pair of decisions in Shamrock
league action this week, clipping
Lucan by a 4-2 count in Hensall,
Satur'day,f'alici dropping a close 3-
2 verdict to St. Marys at Huron ,'
Park on Sunday.
In the win over Lucan, the
locals jumped into a 210 lead
early in the game with Scott
Lovie and Jeff Pfaff being the
marksmen. Steve Laithwaite
assisted on both tallies.
Lucan rebounded on goals by
Jeff Shipley and Jeff McFalls, ,
AvA
but Exeter came back with two in
the third to cap the victory. Doug
Scott fired the first tally on a play
with ,Lovie and Laithwaite and
Ltiitie notched the fourth with
helpArom Scott and Laithwaite.
In ,Huron Park on Sunday,
Exeter scored first with Scott
Lovie finding the range on a pass
from Laithwaite, but St. Marys
