It is for women of all ages and all interests. The first speaker is Margit Houston of London who teaches interior decorating at Fonshowe College. "Women Together" will hold its first meeting January 19 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the basement of Caven Presbyterian Church, It is the brain child of about one half dozen young women who. feel there is a great need in the community for all women, but especially young mothers who may be shut in with small children and who have little opportunity to meet and make new friends. Baby sitting services will be provided for babies and preschoolers so that mothers will be free to enjoy the programs provided. Transportation will also be arranged, if necessary. Margit Houston of London, an interior decorator who teaches the subject at Fanshawe College as well as being a consultant for a decorating firm in London. She came highly qualified and will bring many suggestions and ideas as to how homemakers can make their dwellings more at- tractive. A few other upcoming programs will include a nutritionist speaking and demonstrating on nutrition and how to make your food dollar stretch, a lawyer speaking on women's legal rights, a doctor on stress and the need for relaxation, and an expert on women's fashions. There will be no charge except for a free-will offering to offset expenses. By MRS. WILLIAM ROHDE THAMES ROAD The January meeting of the United Church Women was held on Monday evening with 25 ladies present. Mrs. Barry Robinson opened the meeting with the U.C.W. Purpose. Mrs. William Johns read the Scripture Lesson, A skit "Last Night I Dreamed Of All Things A Sheep", with Mrs. Lloyd Ballantyne and Mrs. John Pvm taking part, Offertory prayer was given by Mrs. William Johns. Mrs. Robinson gave the survey results. Mrs. Lloyd Ballantyne led a group on programming, Mrs. John Pym led group on business discussion and Mrs. Robinson led a group on purpose of ,the U.C,W. Mrs. Glen Stewart opened the business part of the meeting with a reading. Roll call was answered by the paying of fees. A letter of thanks was read from the manse com- mittee stating that the carport was all paid for, cards of thanks were read. A letter from Alma College was read and a donation of $25 was to be sent. Lunch was served by Group "W" along with the hostess Mrs. Lee Webber. Don't forget the family party Friday night.
