quite a blow to our Commission,"
Those ware the words of Exeter
Public Utilities Commission
manager when he told board
members Thursday morning that
the Ontario sales tax would apply
to most material purchases made
by the local PUC after January 1,
1977.
Davis went on to say that only
transformers were exempt from
the sales tax regulations, if they
were ordered in 1976. He con-

Davis said the tax situation on
water works purchases was more
complicated than hydro,
He added, "We have been able
to head off some of the tax by
ordering all we possiblycanf or the
new wells this year. The only
problem we may encounter is
that we will get invoices for these
materials earlier than we had
originally anticipated."
In other business, the Com-

Hugh Davis that Mrs. Pat
Hendrick, part-time member of
the office staff for several years
