Many students are seeking gainful employment this
summer, including myself.
I am well aware that the job situation in this country is
not good and you will probably consider me biased but I
just can't see why foreign students can apparently get
summer jobs while we Canadian students cannot.
For myself and a great many others, I can only say that
we depend on getting summer work to help pay, for our
education and believe me it's pretty hard to take the "no
vacancy" routine day after day then find that a lot of
positions have been filled with students from other coun-
tries, .
The immigration law as it stands with respect to foreign
students is not at all sympathetic toward them. Any foreign stu-
dent working at a decent job in this country is extremely lucky in-
deed.
The law forbids them to work unless the employer applies for
their services and Canada Manpower can't find a Canadian to
do the job. This results in great hardship for foreign students, as
they must often work illegally, at below minimum wages.
Don't think for a minute that they have any advantage over
you in the job market. Immigration policy is heavily against
them.

My hobby (for some time now) is telling fortunes by
means of cards and tea cup reading. Up until now I have
just been doing this with friends and acquaintances but I
am seriously thinking of going into the fortune-telling
business on a professional basis, but what I need to know
is,
Do I need a license for this? and if so, where do I apply?
also, how much does it cost? and finally, do I have to pass
a test of any kind?
The one answer to all your questions is NOI due to the fact
that fortune telling for any sort of compensation has for some
time now, been declared MEGA! in Canada, under S23 of the
Criminal Code.
Witchcraft, sorcery, enchantment or conjurations are also il-
legal, whether practised for money or not.
The only advice we can offer is that if you are determined to
make your living from a hobby, you had better get yourself
another one, such as Graphology, (handwritten-analysis,)
Professional graphologists are in great demand by many
prominent business firms who use them as a help in screening
applicants for specific jobs. Police departments too often make
use of their services.
