W. E. McDougall Church news The United Church service was conducted by Rev. Don Beck with Mrs. John Turkheim at the organ. The Junior Choir sang, "Joy is like the Rain" and "Our Father, who art in Heaven" accompanied by Brenda Pepper at the piano. The sermon was titled, "Go, Then" and dwelt on the missionary spirit we should all have. After the sermon, Sheri Lynn Ducharme was presented for baptism. Flowers placed in the church were in memory of Susan Wright. Next Sunday Dr. Carey Joynt will be the guest speaker followed by a question and answer period and refreshments. At the regular meeting of the Three Links Senior Citizens Club of Hensall Tuesday Mrs. Dorothy Mickle reported on the Seminar held by the Golden Age Club of Grand Bend in the Village Inn Retreat Centre on May 12. Flans were finalized for a bus trip to Frankenmuth on June 29. Committee in charge of arrangements are Mr. & Mrs. Glen Bell and Mr. & Mrs. Tom Brintnell. The bus is leaving the Drop-in centre at 8 a.m. Be on hand at 7:45 a.m. It was decided to affiliate with the USC Inc. and Rosa Harris, secretary of Huron County Zone 8, announced that a picnic will be held at Bayfield Park, July 18. There will be no meeting during July and August, and the Autumn season will commence with a pot- luck supper September 13. The social committee; Mrs. Walker Carlile, Mrs. Tom Brintnell and Mrs. Pearl Koehler, then took charge of euchre and crokinole games, Winners were: gents high, Clarence Volland, consolation: H.Adkins lone hands: Glen Bell. Huronview bazaar held The successful Spring Bazaar, Bake Sale and Tea held at Huronview and sponsored by the Huronview Auxiliary was favored by fine summer weather June 9 and was attended by a large, enthusiastic crowd. The Tea Room looked very exciting with white linen cloths and flowers on the small tables, and a beautiful arrangement of peonies on the attractive tea table, where Mrs. Lester, Mrs. Muir, Mrs. Archibald and Mrs, Colclough poured. Bride honored at party A large number of neighbours, relatives and friends enjoyed a very pleasant evening Tuesday, at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Eric Luther, in honor of their daughter-in-law Mrs. Rick Luther, London. Contests were directed by Mrs. Cecil Kipfer and everyone presented the bride with household hint and a recipe. Numerous miscellaneous gifts were presented to the bride and a social hour was enjoyed by all. Those arranging the shower were Mrs. Harold Parker, Mrs. Cecil Kipfer and Mrs. Russell Erratt. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Chipchase, Jeff and Angela have returned to Virginia after visiting with their families and attending the Fraser- Keys wedding. Mr. & Mrs. William Simpson Birmingham, Michigan visited recently with Mrs. F.G. Bon- thron. Mr. & Mrs. Glenn Bell visited with Mr. & Mrs. Wilfred Hunkin Thames Road recently. Mr. & Mrs. George Beer, Betty and Brian have returned home from a pleasant motor trip to the East Coast, Mrs. T. Gittus, who has been a patient in South Huron Hospital for several weeks, was able to return to her home last week, Catherine Christie of London spent the weekend with her mother Mrs. C, Christie. Mrs. Edith Bell, Mrs, F.G. Bonthron, Mrs. Bertha MacGregor and Mrs. Wm. Brown, Seaforth, were en- tertained at the home of Mrs. Pearl Baynham in London along with Mrs. Bertha Mason and Miss Minnie Reid of London. Mrs. 'Bertha Mason of London was a recent visitor with her sister Mrs. Elsie Case. Mrs. Rochus Faber, Literature secretary for the Huron Presbytery, accompanied by Mrs. Gordon Schwalm, gave a display . of her books to the members of Blyth WMS at the home of Mrs. William Dalrymple, Belgrave, last Tuesday afternoon. Visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Schwalm, Mrs. Daisy Ivey and Mrs. Elizabeth Volland included Mrs. Jim Finlay, Douglas and Steven of Exeter, Mr. & Mrs, Art Hallam of Vanastra, Mr. Art Coombs of Clinton, Mrs. Beatrice Taylor of Varna, Mrs, Margaret Boa of Goderich, Mr. Norman Coglin of Atwood, and Mr. & Mrs. Eldon Johnston of Brucefield. Town visitors included Derek Robin- son, Mrs. Rose Pyke, Mrs. Bona Clark and Mrs. Gladys Cudmore. Mrs. Herbert Jones is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Warrant Officer H.A.L. Van Dyk visited with Mr. & Mrs. Sim Roobol from June 8-13. While here, relatives from Ridgetown, Atwood, Bradford, Woodstock and Seaforth visited. Officer Van Dyk is married and has two teenage daughters, both of whom are Registered Nurses, and lives with his wife and family, (while he is home), in Vlissingen, Holland. Most of his life is spent on board ship, where he is chief electrician and has 54 men under his command. - Mrs. Brian Collins and Sarah of Kitchener visited recently with the former's mother Mrs. Laird Mickle. Mrs. Laird Mickle visited last week with her two daughterg and their families, Mr. & Mrs. Ross MacMillan and family, Waterloo; Mr, & Mrs. Brian Collins and Sarah, Kitchener and on the way home Friday visited the Rev. Currie's in Sebringville. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Corbett and Mr. & Mrs. Joe Flynn spent the weekend camping at Silver Lake. Mark Shaddick of London visited last week with his grandmother Mrs. Pearl Shaddick. On June 10, Unit 1 held their regular meeting with Will Beck presiding. Her devotional theme for meditation was "Happy are the meek." Several members read from the scriptures. Some thoughts were "Love is here to stay, Love is an, im- mediate central fact in the lives of each one of us and love has depth, patience and constancy." . Helen Scane gave a very in- teresting study on Cuba. The education goal of this country is a constant transformation system. Their health care was previously run by the 'rich, but now is the basic responsibility of the state, Their religion is of less im- ,portance. The reported on and an invitation to Chiselhurst UCW meeting on June 30 was accepted. Regional UCW meeting will be held at Hensall October 6. Unit 1 has the programme for "Lunch is Ser- ved" and plans for a wedding dinner were discussed, The programme concluded with Anita Cook giving a humourous reading "Church Bulletins" and the Mizpah Benediction was repeated by all.
