RAP is having other problems at the track, More specifically at the Rodeo. ring. According to. RAP'S resourdes manager, Alvin Willert wondered if the problem couldn't be solved by putting calcium down as long as it would not harm the horses. Vice-chairman, Bob Pooley remarked that he wan't sure how it would affect the horses, but felt that the cost would be prohibitive, especially in terms of this year's RAP budget. Willert questioned the cost for calcium chloride and replied that the only other solution would be soaking the track with water, observing that it would not only be a full-time job but would probably be done in vain as the water soaked into the ground or evaporated into the air. Pooley responded again, ob- serving that a calcium treatment would not be much better, as the salt would seep into the ground by the end of the first day and dust would still be a problem. "That may be true", said Willert, "but the dust was so bad the other day that I'm not kid- ding, you couldn't see the kids London man ...RAP Continued from front page dust on the racetrack and what are we going to do about it?" What's the sense of having a RAP committee that is supposed to make decisions which are in turn refuted by Council. I can think of better ways of spending my time than hassling over $5,000 programs." A special budget session of RAP will be held later in the week to go over the implications of program cuts and proposed staff layoffs, 66 .scc;c...• 6ce the future, a policy should be developed providing contracts for renting the grounds with provisions for payment for any damage caused or default on using the grounds as scheduled without 24 hours notice. The director of education will now be authorized to award pro- rated gratuities where retirement before being eligible for a full gratuity as delineated in an applicable agreement is caused by the employee either reaching compulsory retirement age or ceasing employment through medically certified ill health. Requests for pro-rated gratuities for other com- passionate grounds will be dealt with by the Board on an in- dividual merit basis. Willert said .that a water tap had been broken, the Rodeo ring was left in rough shape, and broken beer bottles were left in washroomS. Iry Armstrong, representing the Ausable Nomads in another matter observed that the grounds were left in much worse shape than after the 0.P.A, campout on the Victoria weekend. Pooley stated that it sounded "pretty expensive" for RAP, considering the $40 fee that the rec. committee charges the Saddle Club for a full horse show, In a related matter, Willert observed that RAP was never notified of a horse show con- cellation in May, He told the committee that a man had been on call for the entire day to take care of the grounds during the event and had turned the lights on and opened the grounds up. Jim McKinlay observed that it was not until the afternoon of the day that the event was to be held that he was notified of the show's cancellation. Bob Pooley stated'that the club would be charged for rental of the grounds anyway and a letter to that effect will be sent to the Saddle Club, Dave Zyluk suggested that in ,\O 0-re c;i:S9 gets two days A London man, Frank Albert Valenti, pled guilty to a charge of indecent exposure Tuesday in provincial court, He was sen- tenced to two days imprisonment by Judge Glen Hays, In Justice of the Peace Court,.
