Importance of exercise and posture
stressed by local chiropractor
,by Leigh Robinson
A new Chiropractor has come
to Exeter. He is Dr. David Hann,
Doctor of Chiropractic. His prac-
tice formally began this month.
Explaining what a Chiroprac-
tor is, Dr. Harm says that he is
basically a primary contact
practitioner, able to accept
patients, diagnose their
problems and treat them if they
are within his scope of practice,
or refer them to another prac-
titioner, such as a Physician,
Dentist or Optometrist if
necessary.

Of the treatment itself, Dr.
Hann describes it as "structural-
ly oriented, a very physical type
of practice". The primary
therapy is centred around the
spine, the muscular and skeletal
systems. He says that many
seemingly unrelated afflictions
are affected by these systems.
As an example, he refers to arm

as other ailments can be relieved
through therapy on the spine and

pain that can occur from
problems in the lower neck
region.
Working with the spine, the
muscles, and the bone structure,
Dr. Hann states that many afflic-
tions can be alleviated or reliev-
ed by the Chiropractor, although
he points out that the scope of his
practice is not unlimited, Ex-
plaining it from an overall point
of view, he feels that Chiroprac-
tic, like dentistry, medicine and
other health care professions are
all part of the same spectrum,
each contributing in their own
way to preventing and curing
human afflictions with some
overlap among the various
fields.
Chiropractic is that branch of
the healing arts concerned with
the relationship of the spine to
the nervous system by the ad-
justment of the spinal column
and related structures of the
body.
Dr. Hann stresses that early
detection and treatment of a
chronic ailment is a vital factor.
The younger the patient is,
generally speaking, the greater
the chance that the treatment
will affect long-range recovery.
"We have been able to reduce
substantially problems in
patients through regular care,
especially when treatment is
applied early",
Dr. Hann, his wife Patricia
and their daughter Rebecca
make their home in Exeter. The
office located at 105 Main Street,
has been renovated and
redecorated in comfortable
fashion for his patients. "Exeter
is a very nice town, we're happy
here", he says, adding that both
he and his wife are excited about
the new practice.
Dr. Hann graduated from the
Canadian Memorial Chiropractic
College in 1971, and has been
practicing in London for the past
five years. He is the Vice-
President of the London
Chiropractic Society and one of
the younger members of the
Canadian Chiropractic Examin-
ing Board for students seeking
their license to practice
Chiropractic.
Asked what ailment most com-
monly plagues his patients, Dr.
Hann notes one of the most com-
mon spinal problems is in the
lower back region. He points out
that even though the lower back
does a great deal of work suppor-
ting the erect human body, it is
still a relatively weak structure
because anatomically speaking
the human body has not
progressed completely from the
days of walking on all fours. He

the London Jaycees.

portunity of taking swimming

While the staff of Huron Hope
School participated in a
Professional Activity Day last
month our pupils were treated to
a picnic at Pinery Park. A
number of Y.A.C.M.R. members
from South Huron and District
High School accompanied by
their staff advisor, Mr. Long,
planned an enjoyable day for the
children.
Earlier this month Mrs.
MacGregor's class joined the
Primary classes at McCurdy to
see a presentation by the London
I Humane Society on the care and
protection of pets.
Mr. Roland McCaffrey once
again made a donation of wood to
the school. These "scraps" are
lovely round pieces of wood
which can be used both for cr. "1-s
and woodworking. These con-
tributions are greatly ap-
preciated.
A tray of slides showing the
children in various activities has
gone out on loan twice now, so
that interested groups can
become familiar with the
program.
The volunteer Fire Department

them last week. Fortunately the
rain held off long enough for the
12 children to all ride on or in the
truck, to try out the equipment
including the water hoses and fire
extinguisher and to tour the

the Rector appeal for financial
support to those people of this
wonderful community who are
interested enough to give some
tangible support to help in this'
ongoing task of repelling the
ravages of time, dirt anddecay.
Our work is worthwhile not only
because of our civic pride of
heritage,but because of the silent
reminder of eternal values which
are part of the spiritual heritage
of all the sons of God.

be most gratefully received and

Dear Mr. Editor:
Steeplejacks have commenced
work on the restoration of the
crumbling brickwork of the Bell
Tower of Trivitt Memorial
Church, which is the current
restoration project of the
congregation, Over the years the
maintenance of this magnificent
church property has been a
heavy burden to carry, but in
spite of the difficulties the
property is in better condition
today than it has been for many
years, both inside and outside,
thanks to the steady continuing
efforts of many interested people.
While I understand that
members of other communions
have commitments towards their
own buildings, Trivitt Memorial
Church holds a warm place in the
hearts of all the people of Exeter.
Many tell us how much they
enjoy the music of the bells,
whilst others who are interested
in the history of our town enjoy
the very existence 9f a building
which lends a prestige and
dignity which is lacking in many
other communities,
Trivitt Memorial was built in
len, the same year as the Town
Hall, and before these two
buildings were erected Main
Street Must have looked a rather
barren thoroughfare, The Church
With many thanks,
Yours faithfully,
The Rev, George Anderson,
Rector, Trivitt Memorial.
Nothing gives one person so
much advantage over another as
to remain always cool and
unruffled under all Orcumstances.
