tralia, and Mrs. Hugh Davis
visited Mrs. Rose McFalls and
Mrs. Johnson, Glanworth
recently.
Mr. & Mrs. Harry Carroll are
visiting relatives in Detroit; they
were guests at the graduation of
their great niece Colleen
Canham.
and tables which they recently
donated to the hospital through
fund-raising efforts. In all, six
Mr, & Mrs. Wayne Carroll,Lesa
were guests Sunday with Mr. &
Mrs. Hugh Davis and Heather.
Nancy Tindall was a weekend
guest with Penny Smith, Cen-
tralia.
Mr. & Mrs. George Hunter,

Scout & Cub news
The cubs invited the explorers
to join them round their campfire
Monday night, then later the
explorers entertained the cubs
with a couple of skits.
The scouts are expecting to get
a "Birds's eye view" of the city of
London next weekend, they are
being taken on a plane ride.
UCW Units meet
Unit 1 met at the home of Mrs.
Earle Middleton June 2, Miss
Mabel McNaughton, presided
and opened the meeting with the
hymn "My Faith looks up to
Thee" Lesson Thoughts were
Fight the good fight of Faith, ,
Mrs. C,B. Westman read the
scripture pertaining to the
worship service, Members were
chosen to greet at the church door
tar the month of June.
A reading entitled "June" was
given by Mrs. Middleton and
Mrs. Cliff McRobert read two
poems, ‘"l'he Bridge you'll never
cross", and "A bit of
Philosophy".
The Meditation, read by Mrs.
Elmer Summers, was on "Being
wrong about the teachings .of
Jesus", this was followed by a
discussion
The hostess was assisted in
serving lunch by Mrs, Douglas
Tuttle.
Unit 3 met at the home of Mrs.
John Drost June 1. Mrs. Doug
Brown presided.
In place of a program the
members worked on embroidery
blocks for two crib quilts that
they are making for the Bazaar,
Mrs. Garfield Nixon and Mrs.
Ken Waugh were in charge of this
project. This unit is having a
refreshment booth in the park on
Fun day.
Mrs. Wm. Thomson and Mrs.
James. Riddell assisted the
hostess with lunch,
Rev. Mary McNally was the
hostess for Unit 4 at the Manse
June 2.
Mrs. Nelson Tate presided and
conducted the business and led in
worship,
Lesson thoughts were on
lighting the good fight of Faith
arid scripture passages per-
taining to this were read by Mrs,
Tate and Mrs. Reg. Crawford.
Mrs. Floyd Dykes and Mrs.
Warren Gregory were in charge
of the program; Mrs, Gregory
gave a reading and Mrs, Dykes
took the Meditation on "Being
wrong about the teaching of
Jesus", a discussion followed.
Mrs. Harold Hardie gave a
very interesting account of her
winter vacation on Can Cum
Island,
The hostess was assisted in
serving lunch by Mrs. Harold
Hardie and Mrs. Charles Gowan,
Unit 5 had their meeting at the
home of Mrs. Emerson Wallis
June 2.
Mrs. Chas McRobert presided,
led in worship and conducted the
business. The program was in
charge of Mrs. John Bryan and
Mrs. McRobert,
Mrs. Byaon favored with a
plant) solo "Shadows on the
Waters", and Mrs. McRobert
gave the Bible study paper on
"Being wrong about the
teachings of Jesus."
There was not much business to
discuss as meetings are
discontinuedlor July and August.
Lunch was served by the hostess
and Mrs. Malcolm Spence and
Mrs. Wilbur Harlton.
Church news
At the United Church, Rev.
Mary McInally conducted the
service, her sermon on "The.
Fellowship" was taken from the.
scripture. Speaking of Pentecost
Rev. Mclnally said, with God's
Holy Spirit working within us we
can strive for unity in the service.
The children's story was an
explanation of the Pentecost, in
language, that they could un-
derstand,

Mrs. Robert Harloff and Mrs.
Elmer Summers attended. a
meeting of the Canadian Cancer
Society at Lucan United Church
June 2, to write thank you notes to
all the volunteers who had
worked on the residential can-
vass. Although the branch does
not have the final count of the
proceeds from the Great family
Ride, it will exceed their ex-
pectations,
Mr, & Mrs. Emerson Wallis
spent the weekend with their son
Kevin at Sudbury.
Mrs. Win, (Mavis) Knapman
was home from Victoria Hosiptal
London on Sunday for the day, we
hope that she will soon be home to
stay.
