SUMMERS Court Valentine met Monday in the Forester's Hall. Mrs. Larry Hern was in the chair, and presided over the court and conducted the business which included plans to buy a block of tickets for the play Anne of Green Gables, being shown at the Huron Country Playhouse. This will include the chartering of a bus, as was done last year. Mr. Lois Herbert has been chosen to represent Court Valentine as a delegate to the High Court Convention in Win- nipeg in July, Get well cards were signed by all present for two members who were in hospital. The bulletin draw for a Forester coffee spoon was won by Mrs. Hamilton Hodgins. Mrs, Marie Doyle and Mrs. Melba St. Dennis were in charge of the lunch. Women's Institute news The WI met at the home of Mrs. Elmer Harlton, the new president. Mrs. Gordon Dann was in the chair and conducted the business. It was decided to plant chrysanthemums as well as petunias at the base of the monument this year, so that when the petunias were through blooming there would be flowers for the fall. Mrs. Hamilton Hodgins offered to donate some bronze chrysanthemum plants. In response to a request a donation was voted to the Mentally Retarded Association in St. Marys. A "thank you" note was read from the past president Mrs. Donald Roloson who is vacationing with relatives in England. It was decided to again have a refreshment booth in the park on Fun Day July 24. The roll call was "My Favorite spot in Canada". Two new members were welcomed and get well cards were signed by all for two members who were in hospital. The program topic was Agriculture and Canadian Industries. Mrs. Norman Hodgins and Mrs. Clare Bryan were in charge It was agreed that the report on the District Annual meeting by Mrs. Norman Riddell alternate District Director be postponed until thenext meeting in order to give the guest: speaker more time. Mrs. Hodgins introduced Mr. George Worte, a hor- ticulturist director on the board of St. Marys Horticultural Society. Mr. Worte, whose hobby ` is photographing flowers, entitled his program "Spring Beauty". His pictures were taken mostly in the bush close to his home at Lakeside. Mrs. Worte and Mrs. H. Wollney accompanied her husband. Two readings were given by Mrs. Bryan. One, "A Brand New Year", pertained to the Institute year which is from April to April and the other en- titled "The More you give, the moreiyou get." The hostess was assisted in serving lunch by the conveners. Request Cancer Ride Pledge money Mrs. Robert Harloff and Mrs. Elmer Summers would like to hear from those people who have not turned in their pledge money from the Great Ride for Cancer. It is almost a month now since the ride and they would like to get the business settled up and the money on it's way for cancer research. Church news At the United Church Rev Mary Mclnally conducted the service and took her sermon from the scriptures of Matthew and Acts; "What are you really saying?" Personals Best wishes for her continued improvement are extended to Mrs. Wm. Allen who is patient in SI. Joseph's Hospital, London. Wishes for a speedy recovery are offered to Mrs. Cecil Bowman who is in St. Marys Hospital. Mr. & Mrs. Steven Chrystman and sons Graham and Jeremy of Dundas spent Sunday with Mrs. Robert Rainey. Mr. & Mrs. Cyril Morley of Ailsa Craig and Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins and family were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Harlton, and Mrs. Harlton's sister Mrs. Anne Milson of London, called during the afternoon. Mr. & Mrs. Mel Westman and Mr. & Mrs. Ron Westman of Leamington attended the dance at the Stork Club at Port Stanley May 19 where Guy Lombardo & his Royal Canadians provided the music and Joseph McManus Jr. unveiled a plaque honoring the memory of his late father Joe McManus Sr. By MRS. HAROLD DAVIS St. Paul's ACW met Thursday at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Paul, Mrs. Paul opened the meeting assisted by Mrs. Burns . Blackler and Mrs. Garth Blackler. Reports were given on the Deanery meeting attended in Stratford and the WA Annual in London by Mrs. Pearl .Budden and Mrs. Paul. Mrs. Muriel Sisson was the speaker for the evening and gave a very inspiring paper on uprightness. After the closing of the meeting lunch was served by Mrs. Cecil Dobson, Mrs. Bill Waghorn and hostess. Mrs. George Hall and Mrs. Joan McCormick spent the holidays weekend with Mr. & Mrs. John Hanniman and family of Renfrew. Mr. & Mrs. Loughleen of Toronto spent the weekend with Mrs. Albert Bickell. Mr. & Mrs. Rea Stephen en- joyed a bus trip on the weekend to Nashville. Mrs. Maurice Blackler has returned home from a three week visit with her daughter Dawn, Mr. & Mrs, B. Temple in England also visited Mr. & Mrs. Cecil Wills of Cornwall England. Mrs. Blackler was accompanied by her brother Dr. Albert Berry of St. Marys. Mr. & Mrs. Sidney White of Guelph and their daughter Sheila, Mr. & Mrs. Fletcher called on friends in the village Sunday.
