Fund raising projects so far this year have included the Harvest Dance, Fall Rummage Sale, a food booth at a local auction and just recently, the Spring Rummage Sale. Before the end of June they will run a food booth at the 5th Annual Ontario Fiddler's Contest. a movie afternoon during the Fiddler's Contest weekend and another food booth at the Hensall Spring Fair. They have done a great deal of community work this year which was very enjoyable. The Kinettes hosted a Christmas party for the children of the town featuring a puppet show and a visit from Santa. They have visited the shut- in people in town twice, taking them a plant at each visit and donated to a needy family at Christmas and in June will present two scholarships to the top boy and girl in the Grade 8 graduating class. The Kinettes sponsored a foster child through Canada Save the Children and also canvassed the town for the Ability Fund. In March they organized a trip to London to the Ice Capades for a number of interested people in town and have recently com- pleted a six week baby-sitting course for 12 teenagers, They have agreed to help our Kinsmen financially at the end of June, in Craft room is meeting place The May meeting of the Huronview Auxiliary was held in the Craft Room and was chaired by the president. Mrs. Connie Colclough who extended a warm welcome to all who attended from different parts of the county. She introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Dorothy White of Guelph, who is district director of Zone 3 ( Hensall's zone). Secretary, Mrs. Gourley read the minutes of the annual meeting held in April, and called the roll call. Mrs. White spoke on activities of the different Homes and what could be done for senior citizens and of the great need for volunteer helpers in the Home. Mrs. Frances Coleman of Seaforth displayed some very artistic handmade rugs, some of wool and an attractive and useful one made of binder twine. Plans for the Annual Spring Bazaar and Tea were finalized. This event is scheduled for Wednesday, June 9, 2-4 p.m. The bazaar and apron booth will be in the classroom, the tea and bake sale will be held in the auditorium. It was decided to have a draw on a large basket of groceries, each member to contribute an article for the basket and the Dungannon ladies to be in charge of the draw, The proceeds to be used for equip- ment for Huronview. Mr. Archibald spoke on registrations and activities for Senior Citizens Week which begins June 20, The June auxiliary meeting will be held earlier than ususal on Wed- nesday, June 2 at 2:15 p.m., to finalize plans for Senior Citizen week. the purchases of new chairs for the arena. The Hensall Kinette Club celebrated their 19th anniversary last October with a trip to London to a movie. A social evening is planned for approximately every two months and this year have enjoyed a Christmas carolling night, a bowling party, a Chiselhurst WCTU holds meeting The WCTU of Chiselhurst United Church met Tuesday with President, Mrs. Dorothy Parker, opening the meeting with a Mother's Prayer, followed by the Theme Song and prayer. Several "thank-you" notes were received. Mrs. Sarah Dick gave a poem "A Mother's Love". The mem- bers were reminded to have all the used clothing in for the bale by June. A discussion took place over adopting a child overseas through Compassion. It was decided to purchase blankets for overseas relief. Mrs. Pearl Taylor and Mrs. Dorothy Brintnell will visit for the next month. Mrs. Dorothy Brintnell took the worship "A Mother's Day Program. The Roll Call was answered with a verse containing "Mother". Mrs. Beck was in charge of the Bible study on Corinthians with members joining in a discussion, This part of the meeting closed with the Lord's Prayer. A delicious lunch was served by Mrs. Vera Brintnell and Mrs. Clara MacDonald. A slip and bloomer sale followed with Mrs. Marg Cole auctioneer. volleyball game and a card party. Those who passed the baby- sitting course are: Laurie Pepper, Marilyn Pepper, Vicki Mann, Ivy Schauffer, Ilona Schauffer, Debbie Reid, Tammy Turner, Lori Flynn, Lisa Stret- ton. open by singing '0, Canada" printed in full in their bulletin. She read the second and third verses. She opened the Devotional with the hymn, "Happy the home when God is there" and using as her theme "Love" read John 15 vs. 12-17. She told of two kinds of love, abstract and concrete — God is love. These thoughts of true love she followed by prayer. The hymn, "Master, let me walk with Thee" followed with Helen Goddard accompaning at the piano. The minutes were read and the offering dedicated. Money for our foster child was given and it was decided to send her a birthday gift. Audrey Joynt had a very in- teresting study of Canada, giving the many changes in the educational system especially in Nurseries and Community Colleges and improvements and higher costs of our health care. She outlined the religions and the changes in work conditions. Pioneer women had no vote— after World War 1 this was changed. Eileen McLean outlined the business as follows: an invitation to Brucefield UCW. Centennial meeting on June 1 at 2 p.m. was accepted, the church bale is to be packed June 2 and Beef Bar-B- Que May 26, Eileen thanked all who had helped at the meeting. Helen Scane presented a gift to Verna Hay, who will be leaving Hensall. All repeated the Mizpah Benediction and then' Helen Goddard held an interesting contest. Vera Drysdale and Eileen served a tasty lunch. At the Hensall United Church on Sunday morning the congregation were treated to a delightful message when the Exeter United Church Junior Choir and Friends acted out the musical "Sam" in place of the usual sermon. Accompanied on the piano by Dr. R.E. Topp and directed by Mrs. Marianne McCaffrey all who took part are to be congratulated on a spirited performance of the story of the Good Samaritan and the lessons to be learned from it. Rev. Don Beck was in charge of the ser- vice, assisted at the organ by Mrs. John Turkheim. The Youth Club of Hensall United Church met on Sunday evening and listened to musical tapes with a religious message. Afterwards they enjoyed a light lunch. The next meeting will be on June 6 at 7:30 p.m, when newly admitted members to the church will be invited, Blunt people can get to the point very quickly. Visitors during the past week were: Rev. Mr. & Mrs. Clem Jeffrey and Ted Jeffrey visited Mrs. Pauline Jeffrey. Mr. & Mrs, Gus Voth of Bir- mingham visited last week with Mrs. F, G. Bonthron. Mr. & Mrs, Lorne Chapman and Mrs, Bertha MacGregor spent the weekend visiting with Mr. & Mrs. Don MacLaren, Jodi and Brooke of Oakville and visited with Mr. & Mrs. Gerry Chapman, Lisa and Leanne in kMississauga. Visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Schwalm, Mrs. Elizabeth Volland and Mrs. Daisy Ivey last week were Mr. & Mrs. Cecil Robb of Lucan, Mr. & Mrs. Lewis Taylor of Varna, Mrs. Vera Johnston of Brucefield, Mr, & Mrs. Arthur Coombs of Clinton and Mr. & Mrs. Desmond Ivey of Sarnia. Town visitors were Mrs. Irene Finlayson, Mrs. Winnie Skea with her grandsons Colin Skea and Andrew Mason, Mrs. Janice Bisback with Victoria, Mrs. Bona Clark, Derek Robinson, Star Jesney, Dana Bozzato and Patty Jorgensen. Hensall rummage sale The spring rummage sale, sponsored by the Kinette Club of Hensall was held last Thursday flight at the arena. The sale, featuring clothes, furniture and household items was very much a success; Joanne Bell, vice-president of the club said she was pleasedwith the turnout and leftover items will be donated to the Salvation Army. Hensall Sales Barn The Hensall sales barn supply consisted mainly of heifers and steers. Demand was fair and prices were fair. Fat cattle; heifers $41.50-45.40, steers $42.50- 45.80; Stockers; heifers $35.50- $41.40, steers $40.50-$46.00, tops to $52,75. Pigs; weanlings $33.00- $48.00, chunks $55.00-$68.00. Mr. & Mrs. Earl Sararas and Mrs, Laura Hubbert, Toronto visited with Mrs. E. Sararas on the weekend. Mrs. R. M. Peck and Mrs. Bob Peck visited in Kingsville, Harrow and Windsor last week and attended a mother and daughter banquet in Harrow on Tuesday, May 11, Mr. & Mrs. Carl Payne visited with Mr. & Mrs, Ray Primeau of Seaforth on Saturday and while there attended a party given in honour of Mr. & Mrs. George Hays, newlyweds. Hensall native passes away Douglas S.M. Sangster, London passed away suddenly in St. Joseph's Hospital, London on Sunday, May 16, 1976 in his 55th year. He was native ,of Hensall, son of the lateMr. & Mrs. William Sangster. He is survived by his wife Eleanor J. (Forster) Sangster, son William and daughter Sandra, London. Two sisters Mrs. John S. MacFarlane, (Margaret) Goderich; Mrs. Herbert (Norma) Stretton Hensall. Predeceased by a brother Robert Sangster. Funeral service was held from the A. Millard George Funeral Home, London at 1:30 p.m, Wednesday May 19th with Rev. Glenn Campbell, D.D. of Elm- wood Ave, Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Mr. & Mrs. James Sangster & Brad were recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. John Peebles and family in London. Hensall I and II 4-H clubs at- tended Exeter area Achievement Day at South Huron District High School on Saturday, May 15. The morning was spent on group work and discussion. In a part of the afternoon programme, members of Hensall 1, "The Lazy Daisies" performed the skit, "A touch of stitchery, a touch of you". All members of the club took part. Portraying movie stars were Betty Beer as TV announcer Groucho Marx, Janet Bilcke as Zsa Zsa Gabor, Dale Simmons as Phyllis Diller, Laurie Pepper Elizabeth Taylor, Susan Stretton as Cher Bono, Marilyn Pepper as Ruth Buzzi, Leader of this club was Cheryl Riley, Hensall 2 - "Thrifty Threaders" had an exhibit - Colour your World. Com- mentators were Lisa Hamather and Vicki Mann. Other members of this club were Lesley Cottrill, Debbie Reid, Brenda Pepper, Donna Zwaan, Rebecca Jantzi, Cindy Craine, Sandra Nixon, Roxanne Lavery, Kim Stewart, and Donna Jean Allan, Leaders of this club were Mrs. Joyce Pepper and Mrs. Bev Moir. County Honours were presented to Marilyn Pepper, Dale Simmons, Donna Jean Allan and Kim Stewart(completion of 6 clubs). All the girls in all clubs received 4-H spoons. The club for fall will be, "The Cereal Shell' and more leaders are needed for the Hensel] Clubs, so if there is any lady who thinks she could help in any way please contact 262-2344. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Queensway highlights On Sunday evening the Christian Reformed Young People entertained the residents with singing. Rev. Snell con- ducted the church service on Tuesday with Robert Cameron at the piano. Carfrey Cann and Rev. Snell delighted the residents with violin music.On Monday the Hensall United church women namely Mrs. Fletcher, Mrs. Hoy, Mrs. Ian McAllister and Mrs. Jack Drysdale, entertained the residents playing Bingo. Unit 1 of Hensall UCW met on Thursday afternoon May 13 at 2 p.m. with Mabel Shirray in the chair.She opened by telling us that the First Congregational Church in St. Petersburg, Florida, have a Canada Day theme when they Carmel Church anniversary Carmel Presbyterian Church celebrated their anniversary service on Sunday when Rev. Ken Innes was guest speaker delivering an inspiring message. Mrs. Anne Marie Hoffman of Dashwood was guest soloist; the choir under the direction of Mrs. Malcolm Dougall at the organ sang "Saviour More Than Life" and "Saviour Hear Us, We Pray". The Huron Presbyterian Spring Rally will be held in Carmel Church Hensall on May 20 at 1:30 p.m. Mrs. Murray Garvin, missionary from Taiwan is to be the guest speaker. All ladies of the church are cordially invited. The WMS of Carmel church are having their Birthday Party June 7 at 8 p.m, Speaker at Hensall tells of "Canada Day"
