competitors in the WOSSA track
and field championships being
held at J. W. Little Memorial
Stadium May 19 and May 20.
Leading the qualifiers far
WOSSA will be Huron-Perth
record holders Janet Gielen and
Paul Shapton, Gielen set a new
mark in the open girls 3,000
Metres while Shapton set his
mark in the senior boys 100
metres.
Midget girls qualifying are:
Lucy Van Esbroeck, in the 800
and 1500 metres; Jayne Smith in
the high jump; and Jill Tuekey in
the discus, shotput and javelin.
Qualifying for the junior girls
division are: Claudia Jackson for
the long jump; Denise Byrne in

The South Huron Wrestling
Club participated in a junior
Olympic Wrestling tournament
held Saturday in Strathroy. This
was the second of three tour-
naments held across the province
under the direction of the
Canadian Amateur Wrestling
Association.
Jamie Eveleigh of the local
club finished first in his weight
class, Finishing second were Jeff
Johnson, Murray Heywood and
Dave Delbridge while Brian
Westelaken finished third.
Also competing at the meet
were Brad Skinner, John Mol,
Bill Windsor, Walter Van Essen,
John Osgood, Paul Herm, Doug
Cooper, Andy Beaton and John
Burdon,
Coaches Mark Payton, Perry
Sereda, Mike Westelaken, Rick
Skinner and Murton Brock were
extremely pleased with their
teams performance considering
"their limited amount of prac-
tice,"
the shot-put and Pauline Gielen
who is a member of the 1500
me ter relay learn.
Kim Postill in the 800 metres,
Janet Gielen in the 1500 and 3000
metres and La Donna Wonnacott
M the high jump will represent
South Huron in the senior girls
division.
Midget boys competing are
Rob Baker and Brian Mercer,
Moth in the pole vault.
Paul Pooley in the triple and
long jump, Perry Pooley in the
triple jump and Randy Fisher in
the shot-put and discus will
represent South Huron in the
junior boys division.
Paul Shapton will be the lone
representative in the senior boys
division.

Bowling awards
The Huron Park Ladies'
howling awards were presented
last Friday evening.
The "Knock-Outs" and the
"Sassy Six" were the League and
Play-Off champions respectively.
Trophies given were: high
average, Cheryl Smith; high
triple, Eve Smith and high single,
Shirley Morly.
The most improved bowler
award was won by Alice Kooy.
Girls soccer
Goderich will be fielding an all
girls under 14 team for Huron
county minor soccer action this
season, and they have prompted
the Centennial club to put on a
drive to encourage girls in the
Exeter area to sign up for socer.
Three girls are preently on the
under 14 team roster and the club
is seeking more to complement
other rosters in hopes of possibly
establishing an all girl team.
Under 14's lose
The under 14 team from the
Exeter Soccer club was defeated
4-1 by Grand Bend Saturday in
exhibition play,
Doug Hoffman picked up the
only marker for the Exeter
squad. The under 14's start their
regular season schedule in early
June, Their next game is
Saturday; a return match with
Grand Bend at Canner's field in
Exeter,
